Delta Plumbers — Attraction in Toronto

No way, never again. We suddenly had a leaking pipe behind drywall in our basement. It was a Sunday night and we decided to turn off the water and wait until Monday morning to call, hoping to avoid excessive emergency fees. The first plumber came over to assess the problem and seemed surprised that I hadn’t removed the drywall myself. The first charge was $395 to remove a roughly 6 inch by 1.5 foot section. The leak was easily seen, and I was told that the concrete needed to be broken to replace the pipe section, and that some insulation would be placed on the pipes as part of this work. This was to be an additional $2147 and I needed to play half up front (in addition to half of the drywall charge). A second plumber came to do the job and immediately said that no concrete needed to be broken - clearly the first person did not inspect closely enough to see that this pipe, which was directly in view and immediately available to touch or wiggle, did not actually go down into the concrete. After two hours this second plumbed told me that he finished the job. I was never asked to go downstairs to inspect the work. Roughly 50 minutes after he left, I heard a gushing sound and realized that the “fix” was spurting by far more water than the initial pinhole leak. The water damage was now MUCH worse than the initial problem. The insulation was also not installed on the pipes as promised. I called the second plumber directly who said that maybe(!) someone could come back tomorrow to fix this. I then called the company and they asked for video proof - as though I needed to prove that the job was not done correctly. I shared the video of this new, worse issue. Someone did come out roughly 3 hours after the initial “fix”. They quickly fixed the problem, but never did install the promised insulation and clearly were not going to pass on my concerns to management. I was told by ALL THREE plumbers who came to my house that management would be calling me to discuss my concerns that 1) the initial estimate was overkill with respect to the actual work needed to fix the leak 2) part of the promised work (pipe insulation) was never delivered and 3) the company actually caused much more water damage to my home, costing me more time and money. I checked the next day and the company simply charged the second half of the initial ~$2550 estimated cost to my credit card. No call to me as promised. I then called and was told a manger would be in touch. I have yet to hear from them. They were very prompt at the outset prior to getting my money. 2.5 days after I have voiced concern that I was charged for work that was not delivered and was not compensated for damage to my home ,and no word from them. Poorly managed company, unorganized, has failed to return our deposit with no work completed. Gracie is very nice when you call the call centre. unfortunately has no information and can not assist with any questions we always have, she always needs to consult another department. Gracie can do one thing and that is accept your money that is all. Rob the Manger is never available to talk and no one in the office is able to contact him or has a number to reach him. This raises RED FLAGS, Often service companies that are unable to return deposits have spent the money already and do not have the money to return it. I would hope that a company like Delta Plumbers that have marketed themselves all over the GTA as a professional company are not in this situation. I feel the only way to resolve this problem is to publicly communicate it. I have called and talked to Gracie at their office 4 times since this transaction with zero result. If I could give more stars, I would. It was an absolute blessing to stumble upon Delta Plumbers. They were the only company to help me with my gas water heater installation when my old one started to leak. No other company could help me due to it being a gas water heater. They were very polite, kind, friendly, thorough with their work, and very professional. They made me aware of what was going on every step of the way and had excellent rapport.
