We went in person to buy tickets because we have been hearing about the inconveniences of booking tickets online. We were provided with "VIP" tickets to the Manjummel Boys movie. We payed full price for the VIP tickets, hoping to have a pleasant experience. The movie is fantastic but the seatings made the movie an uncomfortable experience. The "VIP" seats we were given, seats V/ 5, 6, and 7 in theatre 2, are probably the worst seats in the entire theatre. The seats are ripped and broken, rocking uncomfortably for every movement. We reached just in time for the movie and we stuck to our seats because the theatre was pretty full and we didn't want to disturb others by moving around. At the end of the movie, we asked to speak to the manager. We were told that our seats are blocked off and shouldn't have been sold. Had we bought the tickets online, we would have accepted that there was a mistake with online booking and we were given the seats. However, we booked the tickets in-person and were given tickets to seats that are supposedly blocked off, at full price. We were not once warned that these seats are flawed. The manager working there at the time, who also refused to provide their name, lacked empathy and did not take responsibility for their mistake. There was no apologies for the service or inconvenience. We kept being told that we could've come before the movie started or at intermission to inform them? People do not come early to movies to inspect their seats and ask for refunds. When you are given VIP seats, you expect the seats to be immaculate. Moreover, intermission break is an impossible time to speak about seats, with the lack of employees working and crowd of people trying to go to the washroom or buy popcorn. Blaming us for our experience and not taking responsibility for their actions is not the way to go. It seems that Woodside Cinema's primary goal is to make money and thus, selling "VIP" seats that they'd supposedly blocked off. There's no remorse. Woodside Cinemas needs to offer better services for the prices they charge online and in-person. Not to mention, the changing of prices to movies as they desire, overpricing certain movies. And surely they can deal with issues such as what we had, in a simple and well-mannered way. Our issue remains unsolved for the lack of assistance and care. Movie goers deserve a...
Read moreCheck their website before visiting to see which screen they’re using, and avoid watching movies in Screen 01. It’s the worst among the three screens—poor visuals, bad sound quality, and noticeable sound leaks from adjacent screens. The screen and seats are subpar, and I was extremely disappointed to watch an otherwise great movie with amazing effects presented so poorly in this theater.
The other two screens are only slightly better and may be manageable if you have no other options. If possible, I recommend going to York, which is better than Woodside. Both theaters seem to be under the same management, but they are like B-class theaters in Kerala rather than the higher standards we’re used to at Cineplex here in canada or other theatres in India. The ticket prices, however, are almost the same as Cineplex—or even higher for some movie releases—which makes the experience feel overpriced.
It’s disappointing that Malayalam movies aren’t released in Cineplex or other theaters with better standards in the GTA. Instead, we’re left with these limited, substandard options like York and Woodside in Scarborough or York Region. Even though York has upgraded a bit, in my opinion it still lacks the minimum standards of a Cineplex screen.
Adding to the stress, security now checks bags (which I understand), doesn’t allow even water inside, and there’s often police presence outside the plaza, creating an uneasy atmosphere.
Theaters like these must improve their standards, or Malayalam distributors need to start screening Malayalam movies in Cineplex to offer better visuals, sound, and perks like Scene points. It’s time for a change to ensure audiences get the experience...
Read moreWe pre-booked 3 tickets (couple + 1 kid) for a movie for Friday (June 6th) evening and unfortunately my kid was not feeling well since today evening. So I went to the ticket counter on June 5th 9.30pm and explained the situation to the person in the counter and told that I don’t need a refund and asked to give a voucher which I can use at a later date.
I also told him that one of my friend has done this before at Albion and asked if he can do sthg similar. He was telling he cant do that, thats the management policy. Who ever did in Albion should not have done that, it seems it wad against their policy.
The only option he gave was to reschedule our tickets to Saturday or Sunday. Then i asked what if my kid doesn’t recover by then. He said thats your problem - like seriously? totally UNCOMPASSIONATE and RUDE customer service.
I asked if I can speak to the manager, he said there is no manager. I got so irritated and thought no use in talking to such a person, and got our tickets rescheduled to Saturday (June 7th) evening and came back.
If my kid doesn’t recover, there is no other option other than forfeiting the tickets. I understand they cant refund, but if he is able to reschedule from Friday to Saturday, why cant he give me a voucher for me to use at a later date. Such a PATHETIC MANAGEMENT and WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE
NEVER GOING AGAIN TO THIS CINEMA.
P.S: Take time to read all the lowest reviews in their page on the sound system and seats in this cinema - it’s not worth the...
