A Tranquil Waterfront Escape in West Vancouver

Ambleside Beach is a serene and picturesque destination nestled along the waterfront of West Vancouver. This expansive park offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, recreational activities, and community events, making it a beloved spot for both locals and visitors.

Scenic Views and Relaxing Atmosphere

The beach provides stunning views of the Lions Gate Bridge, Stanley Park, and the North Shore mountains. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely stroll along the seawall, relaxing on the sandy shore, or watching the sunset over the ocean, the tranquil atmosphere makes it an ideal place to unwind.

Family-Friendly Amenities

Ambleside Beach is equipped with various amenities to cater to families and outdoor enthusiasts. The park features a designated off-leash dog area, tennis courts, a skateboard park, and a fitness circuit. During the summer months, lifeguards are on duty at the designated swimming area, ensuring a safe environment for swimmers.

Community Events and Local Attractions

The beach is a hub for community events throughout the year. From May to October, the Ambleside Artisan Farmers Market takes place every Sunday, offering fresh produce and local goods. Additionally, the Harmony Arts Festival in August brings live music, art displays, and outdoor movies to the waterfront.

Accessibility and Connectivity

Located at 1150 Marine Drive, Ambleside Beach is easily accessible by car, bike, or public transit. The park is connected to the Spirit Trail, a multi-use pathway that stretches along the North Shore, allowing visitors to explore the scenic coastline.

The seaside heart of West Vancouver with stunning 180° harbour scenery spanning from the Lions Gate Bridge & Stanley Park to Point Grey, Point Atkinson and beyond to the distant mountains of Vancouver Island. Along with the adjacent grassy Ambleside Park, it is the best sandy place to "catch some rays" on hazy warm Summer weekends, while watching the massive cruiseships (Cunard, Holland America, Disney et al.) steam past under Lion's Gate Bridge and out through the harbour -- seemingly at a stone's throw. The beach itself is absolutely primo amongst West Van beaches for its sandy expanse -- stretching from Argyle Avenue entrance all the way to the "Squamish Welcome Carving" sitting on its rocky headland opposite Point Atkinson -- and the central part is also patrolled by Lifeguards. Popular for paddle boarders, and also kite-surfers especially on sunny days with good winds, as well as for visitors to Metro - Vancouver wanting to take in the totality of our natural spendor all in one central location: simply no comparison. Ambleside is also a venue of major community festivals, including Harmony Arts (August), Coho Salmon (late September), and the Persian Nooroz (New Year's) Celebration at the Spring Equinox. Ambleside Park & Beach are not to be missed especially during Spring and Summer visits to...

Ambleside Beach and Dundarave Village are connected by the beautiful Centennial Seawalk and lively main street.  Take a walk and visit one or both communities along the way. At night, the Lions Gate Bridge is distinguished by its elegant strings of white lights. You might also get to see a cruise ship head out to sea.

It is the commercial heart and creative hub of West Vancouver – a waterfront neighbourhood that celebrates community and culture in all its forms.  It is a beautiful beach community that is home to artists, galleries and year-round festivals.  With a lively Marine Drive main street connected to the Centennial Seawalk, and a roster of festivities centred around the shore, it attracts locals and visitors from around the lower mainland, who find original and independent shops and restaurants,  active waterfront parks and piers, and an inspiring community of artisans, creators and innovators.

It offers a charming farmer’s market every Sunday from May-September, and ample green spaces for...
