The biggest pool in the world is actually a man-made lagoon where you can't swim due to its extensity. It's still pretty impressive to walk around and enjoy its magnificency. There are regular smaller pools around where you can swim and are also made of ocean water. The complex is comprised of a few buildings with gated access and you need to be staying as a guest in order to enjoy the facilities, which include non-powered water sports like kayaking, paddle boarding and water bicycles, lounge chairs and a restaurant with beautiful ocean views. Access to the beach is available from within the complex but depends on the season it might be close for swimming, although you can still walk around. Buildings are fairly modern and have all the features of city living (except wifi which is only found in lobbies). Several places around the area are available for entertainment, dining and shopping (limited). Plan ahead as the weather is not that of a coastal region in other latitudes. It's usually cold even in the middle of summer (low of 12C in January) however clear sunny skies allow for nice sun bathing and tanning. Enjoy!

WOW is all I can say about my stay at San Alfonso Del Mar. The views, the tranquility of hearing the ocean, the staff members attention. This by far is one of my favorite and most memorable trips that I've taken. We had a slight problem when checking in (no hot water, gas wasn't working and the heater won't turn on), but maintenance came within minutes of us calling and resolved the issue. The rooms were equipped with all the necessities, blankets, towels, plates, cookware, spices, entertainment... We technically could have stayed in the property during our vacation and it would have been just fine. I loved that the place had ample options of where you can lounge about and relax. Side note: There is absolutely NO signal here in the rooms, and the WiFi signal at the lobby is annoyingly slow. I own a small business and although yes I am in vacation and need to disconnect, there are certain things that need special attention. Luckily my brother was able to tether his data for me.

Lots of smaller swimming pools within the largest swimming pool in the world. This is not a hotel but Privately owned apartments so one can access only by rental from one of the owners through the Spanish website or airbnb. Strictly no casual visit. Once you have the privilege as an occupant, you can access your building's own outdoor pools. The gym which contains the indoor pool require additional fee $10,000 per person (US$20) and you will need a swimming cap. No restaurant within the complex but nearby has a supermarket and all units has a kitchen. Has wifi in the lobby but all amenities will depend on specific unit.

A very cool experience! Slightly disappointed in our weather while we were there and that you can’t actually swim in the largest part of the pool. There were also lots of rules and restrictions around the pool/beach area. The hours of the pool were 11-7, which is not too long. My brothers couldn’t play catch on the beach or in the water as a “safety hazard”, there was no music allowed on the beach, and no food or drink. Other than the many restrictions, the area was great. I highly recommend visiting the downtown area just down the street and seeing all of the shops.

Hermoso complejo de departamentos con piletas de agua de mar. La atención de los conserjes y personal es muy buena y siempre se demostraron gentiles durante la estadía. Me pareció que el lugar tenía reglas por de más estrictas y varias restricciones. No se puede poner música, ni ingerir alimentos en las playas de las piletas, no se puede pasear mascotas en ese sector, no se puede jugar a las paletas ni ningún juego playero. Además de eso las piletas abren a las 11 am y cierran a las 19 pudiendo disfrutarla solamente desde el mediodía hasta la tarde. Como otro punto negativo la pileta climatizada y el gimnasio es solo para propietarios, limitándose así el uso a las piletas con agua fría del mar. Por otro lado el complejo cuenta con tobogán (también abierto desde las 11), cama eslastica y posibilidad de alquilar kayak y bicicletas acuáticas. Además hay 4 restaurantes y bares que cuentan con desayunos, meriendas, almuerzos, y cenas. El lugar también cuenta con canchas de voley, fútbol y tenis y actividades recreativas como zumba, bingo, karaoke. El lugar es muy seguro y tiene controles tanto de salida como de entrada, además de contar con guardias diurnas y nocturnas dentro de este. Me parece que el lugar lo vale a pesar de lo mencionado y que se disfruta mucho yendo en grupos de amigos o familia.
