If you come to La Serena don't forget to stop by alfredo, the landmark lighthouse in La Serena. How do you stop here, you can stroll along the beach. On pleasant weekends, at least, there are lots of little shops selling snacks and things like that, and there are a number of restaurants along the beach as well. I recommend La Mia pizzeria which is really a nice Italian restaurant with many things on the menu

I wish it was better protected. It smells pee around the building and there is nothing around it. The municipality could use it as view point. They can open the terrace for visitors maybe. A possible income to city and money for maintenance the tower. I liked the tower itself but there is nothing else to do around it. I was there in winter actually. In summer you can take advantage of the sea and beach.

El Faro lugar para tomarse fotos, podría tener mejor ambiente.. falta música ritmo unos tambores.. algo que llame la atención. Unos fuegos artificiales para fin de año com hacen en viña sería ideal. Más lugares de comida sería buen negocio en verano.. Playa El Faro no apta para el baño.. sin embargo las personas se bañaban.. Playa con mucho oleaje y fría como todas las playas de Chile. Playa para practicar surf.. Playa con agua mala.. Restaurants en toda la av del mar muy caro.. no hay un lugar que sea económico... Mi pareja fue a comprar hielo y por 2 cubos de hielo querian cobrar 500 pesos cuando la bolsa vale mil pesos. Se pasan. Recomiendo llevar sus propias bebidas y snacks. Si es posible llevar una mini cava con hielo. Recomendable llevar bicicletas ó scooter, hay ciclovía por todo el borde de la playa.

The lighthouse is not in great shape. It was never a functional lighthouse. It was built to be.an attraction and a landmark for the city of La Serena. Tsunamis have swept across it a number of times. It is often foggy in the morning making the beach obscure.

Despite signs saying otherwise on the front door it was closed when we visited so I cannot comment on the inside. Exterior was interesting enough with the large ca noon facing the ocean but a little information would have been helpful.

El Faro Monumental de La Serena es un lugar imprescindible para visitar en esta ciudad. Se encuentra en la Avenida del Mar. El faro fue construido en 1953, la torre tiene una altura de 28 metros y dependiendo del día y la temporada, se puede subir a través de una escalera de caracol hasta llegar a la cima. Desde allí, se puede apreciar una vista panorámica de la ciudad y del océano Pacífico. En la base tiene un museo con información de la ciudad y de la historia del faro. Además, ofrecen información turistica y a las afueras se puede comprar recuerditos del faro. Es importante tomar en cuenta que es dificil estacionar, pero se llega muy facil en taxi o colectivo.
