I am not a resort person, by any means, but after visiting Portillo resort for a week with a group of friends I was so surprised at the amazing fun we had. They staff were just AMAZING, they were all so friendly and consistently went above and beyond to make us happy. While the snow wasn't fantastic while we were there, we were still able to ski daily, take lessons, go swimming and attend some of the nightly events. We had a group of 6 and were happy we booked one of their outdoor chalets. We attended a wine tasting that was out of this world. All in all it was the perfect experience and a great way to ski in the Andes. I recommend this to any group of friends or family looking to spend a week skiing in a unique place while enjoying a relaxing vacation. My only complaint, and why I didn't give them 5 stars, was I wish they had some day trip options. Half way through the trip I was going a bit stir crazy and the snow wasn't great. We looked into doing a day trip out of the resort, but there were no options. I know it's far removed from civilization, but it would be great if they had some options during the week to get off the resort.

I recently visited this place and while the overall experience had its merits, there were some notable drawbacks. Firstly, the traffic delays getting there were quite frustrating, causing a bit of a rocky start to the visit. Upon arrival, I was disappointed to find a lack of basic services. The absence of timely assistance and essential amenities made the wait even more inconvenient. Despite these issues, the atmosphere was pleasant, and once the services eventually became available, the staff was friendly. However, the initial inconveniences left a lingering impression. If the traffic situation could be addressed and more attention given to providing essential services, this place has the potential to offer a much smoother and enjoyable experience. While not perfect, it's worth considering a visit for the positive aspects it does offer.

We did a 3 day ski package at Hotel Portillo and it was an awesome experience, would recommend to anybody thinking about skiing in South America. Snow conditions were great, we went 2nd week of August. They have terrain for all ability levels. I see some people saying the hotel stay was not the 5 star experience they were hoping for… My girlfriend and I thought it was the nicest hotel stay we have ever had. Food and service was excellent for the provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Lots of amenities, would definitely come again.

I did a bunch of research on Portillo and was nervous about the drive and the crazy switch backs. But if there is no snow the drive is fine. You can pass the 18 wheelers easily and a lot of them slow down to let cars go. I think I’m bad weather it could be very scary to drive. There wasn’t much snow but the views are amazing. The staff is very nice. The most English and Americans I ran into by far. Since there wasn’t a lot of snow the conditions weren’t great. Definitely eat at Bob’s. You need to take the lift to access.

Unfortunately I did not stay in this hotel. I was only there for a few hours. But for sure I will be back. What an awesome place to relax and take in the scenary. This place is magic. Rooms are huge and very well thought out. The atmosphere here is great and the food second to none. Staff were supper friendly and even though they were not open for skiing they were happy to open the restaurant and offer the services they have. I will recommend this place whenever you have any opportunities.

I was shocked how small and terrible the resort is after seeing so many good reviews. The map makes it seem like there are like 5 short runs; well that’s pretty accurate. Idk if we got unlucky and there’s usually great powder or something but it was incredibly disappointing, not just compared to NA resorts but also compared to valle nevado/colorado/parva as well, which were already a few steps down from some average NA resorts. The lake is pretty though, so there’s that
