Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques — Attraction in San Pedro de Atacama

We visited the Atacama area and Lagunas for the first time — and here’s one very important tip: you must buy tickets in the nearby town Socaire before driving into the area. Without these tickets, you won’t be allowed to enter any attractions — not the lagoons, not the Piedras Rojas areas, nothing.

We didn’t know this ahead of time. There are no signs or information on the road warning you about this. So we had to turn back to town just to buy the tickets, and then drive all the way again.

So please: buy your tickets in town before heading into the Lagunas zone. Otherwise, it’s a wasted trip — you won’t be allowed into any of the natural attractions.
