Simple campground with multiple tents clustered together on the edge of the Serrano river; a fantastically beautiful area with great views. Location is easy to find, as you are less than a minute drive from the park gate (Serrano entrance). Check-in was easy with the staff at the main building. The tent itself is larger than I thought having a raised mattress and clean bedding. There is a night side table however no power to the tents. Bring a headlamp / flashlight. The rental includes a cooking (BBQ) area and covered bench and table near your tent. There is a single power outlet and you can charge your phone if need be. It was very windy and some overnight rain, however the tent was solid. Other reviews mention the cold from the air mattress, so I brought an extra blanket and put it under me - the provided blankets/covers on top were perfect to keep warm for the night. Hot water and power are available until midnight. There is a separate building for bathrooms and showers. They were clean and well maintained and the hot water and water pressure for the shower were perfect.|NOTE - the tents are fairly close together and the sound of the large tent zippers or persons drinking and speaking loudly carreries enough to wake you. ALSO - if you are leaving very early to get into the park and have a vehicle, do not constantly open and close your car doors and trunk (boot) repeatedly at 0600h as you load your vehicle.||There is a restaurant / bar in the main building. Different staff than check in and during my stay, the lad was by himself, as the bar keep, cook, dishwaher, waiter, etc... but no one seemed to wait long, so good job to him. ||From the camp to Grey Lake is about 30min drive depending on the conditions of the gravel roads.||Although it may not seem as a budget price, when compared to other options in the area, if you have the right equipment, you...
Read moreI was looking at some advertising from Caja de Los Andes, that my company is affiliated. Found round tents that had almost the same accommodations than a hotel room but on a tent. I knew that my son would only have vacation availability during December, so looked for options that could work for both.
When we arrived our accommodations were Lotus Bell Deluxe tents, and had double shielding to retain the temperature, as it gets very cold during night. However only the first night we had to turn on the heater, the rest of the week was very warm.
This warm weather is hurting the glaciers that are rapidly shrinking and vanishing. Only few glaciers are growing in the world like Pio XI, one of the largest in Chile.
The scenery of the Torres del Paine horns is impressive, the same I saw when we stayed at the Lago Tyndall Hotel that was located on the other side of the river. We needed to signal with the car horn, a guard siting the other side, so they would collect us on a small boat. There was no cellular signal at that time. Only recently there is a 3G signal from one of the carriers (Entel), that cover only half of the park area. The mountain range and glaciers are not covered, so you would need a satellite phone for emergency purposes.
The concession that manages the camping and restaurant is owned by Chile Nativo Patagonia Travel that provides trekking and other extreme adventure services. The restaurant is new, we had one evening a fantastic lamb shank, and a breakfast with fresh orange juice and eggs from a small nearby farm that feed the chicken with...

This is what happened to us: We arrived in the evening with limited options, so we decided to stay there for about $120 for two people with a camper! 🤌🤌🤌
Since we were nearing the end of our trip, we accepted the price and tried to make the best of it. The staff was friendly, and the facilities were decent, but maintenance was a disaster—no toilet paper, dirty bathrooms, no soap, and a broken shower curtain, among other issues.
I truly regret staying there and would never do it again. How is it possible to charge that much for such poor service? If the price were lower, I wouldn’t complain, but being charged with hotel rates just for a patch of land and dirty facilities was really...
