Xiejie Pedestrian Street is a really good place to visit if you're looking to shop "western" items for cheap. There's an Adidas, McDonald's, etc! Would also like to mention that there is a Miniso, if you're looking to get cheap and affordable items; Blind boxes, Sanrio merchandise, Pixar, Disney, and more. There is a plethora of different shops, but for my recommendation, Momicafe is adorable and worth the visit! They house an amazing collection of really adorable charms with lovable designs, post cards, blind boxes, pins and more. If you're familiar with Shinto charms/omamori, I would recommend getting one! Other than that, it seems pretty lively as well even till late.

I came here 10 years ago and it was a pleasant historic street with some neat shops and an engaging atmosphere about it. It has become a ghost of its former self. In the evenings it is now overrun by hordes of tourists. The shops all sell snacks and knick knacks, advertising obnoxiously with flashing lights, loud speakers, thumping music, and people yelling through megaphones. It is a cacophony of petty consumerism that was almost physically painful to walk through. If you have to come, try coming in the morning when everything is closed and the streets are empty. Eat and drink elsewhere.

Yes, it's touristy and commercialised but for the most part, this town still looks rather appealing. They've done well at blending in some of the streets with the surrounding scenery. The leafy side streets in particular were a pleasant sight. If you're in the area it's worth a visit just to have a wander around and go for a meal and a drink. I personally wouldn't recommend staying overnight here, however, as you're in one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth.... So why would you stay in a busy touristy town?!

Main pedestrian shopping street in Yangshuo. Very commercialise and busy, full of food and what not. Early morning is the best time to capture the street view at the overhead bridge near the entrance, where traffic is light. Night time is quite overwhelming due to the endless crowd. It's nice to take a quick tour at night to soak in the local atmosphere.

One of my favorite "Goldilock" night streets in the world, not too many people, not too much noise, the right ambiance as the cool night breeze and music flows. The entire street lights up as well as the surrounding mountains, perfect place to shop, have dinner, a beer, and stay out to people watch.
