Yangshuo Green Lotus Hotel — Hotel in Guilin

Excellent hotel - location, pool and service! On arrival the lovely lady on reception advised us the room we had booked was probably not best for a family and changed our booking to a more suitable one. The new room was excellent and this moment of great customer service really had a positive impact on us. The hotel is in a brilliant location just on the edge of the very busy downtown/Xi Jie area, but still with plenty of restaurants, shops, ebike hire, etc. right outside the door. and only a very short walk to Xi Jie. It’s also on the river with lovely views of the river and mountains, especially from the pool area. We loved the pool area… gorgeous setting, big enough for fun and proper swimming and a sanctuary from the hustle, bustle and heat of Yangshou. This Green Lotus hotel was nice looking and bedding was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was a different issue unfortunately! We had breakfast buffet there. Selection was very limited, ok tasting, however their attitude was terribly rude. The tables have signs noting something like "eat responsibly". The manager walks around watching what people take and eat! ||We recently traveled thru China for 12 days thru various cities. Most hotels booked (Beijing Novotel, Grand Nobel, Guilin Bravo and Ssaw) were 4 and 5 stars and correctly rated based on hotel look and comfort, also restaurant food and service. We disagreed with this hotel rating. On restaurant tables, signs should be removed and the manager coached. Food and service must change before people stop...
