The lobby of this hotel is quite nice but it is deceiving given how poor the rooms themselves are. ||First off I would like to warn any travelers that the two bottles of water supplied are NOT FREE. Each small bottle costs 15 RMB, an incredibly unreasonable price given that 1) most hotels in its price range offer 2 water bottles for free and 2) the supermarket right downstairs sells a 1.5L bottle for 3.50 RMB (the hotel bottles are 500mL).||||The room itself is quite standard however all rooms are fairly dim due to the fact that there is no central light, all the lights are on the periphery of the room or are small lamps. My room specifically had a few issues. The door of the dresser was broken and slightly unhinged. The bathroom shower was placed right next to one of the beds and had a glass panel separating them rather than a wall because... reasons?||||Moving onto the bathroom itself, I was not supplied with shampoo or body wash and had to use the ones that I brought with me. The door of the shower does not closer entirely and the bottom of the shower door hinge was not sealed, leading to a puddle forming outside the shower on the bathroom floor. The knob for adjusting the shower function was also broken and I wasn't able to change from the shower head to the overhead sprinkler.||||Finally, my room was on the 4th floor, on the same floor as their Bamboo Lounge, a lounge filled with chairs and desks to hang out in. Despite the numerous Non-Smoking signs, it did not deter people from smoking there as I saw personally and as evidenced by the smell throughout the floor and even detectable on the 5th floor. Non-smoking policies are only useful if enforced and clearly, the staff here do not care as the ashtray next to the lounge was filled with cigarette butts (also why even supply an ashtray when it's supposed to be non-smoking?)||||The location of the hotel itself is great. It is right across the street from the West Street, where all the shopping, food, bars and nightlife is but aside from its location, there is nothing that stands out about this hotel. The rooms are average, the service is poor, the breakfast buffet is also average. I don't know what the other hotels in the area are like but for the price point of this hotel, it is simply...

Read moreThe thing you have to understand about this hotel, is you have to understand the town, Yangshuo. In my opinion Yangshuo is like a little party town, plenty of bars, restaurants, market area's, it is a real tourist town, slightly off the beaten track, on the banks of the Li River, a 4 hour cruise from Guilin. It caters for the foreign tourist in the main. ||||If you are coming from the dock where the cruise boats from Guilin stop, it is a gentle interesting walk up the hill through the markets and shops to the hotel. A little underwhelming from the street, the reception area is not as large as some but adequate. The elevators are slow and the rooms are a little older but still very clean and a reasonable size. Bathrooms are good too. Our room had a view over the back alley, so not great, but we weren't here for that. ||||Breakfast buffet was good, plenty on offer and all fresh and hot. Typical Chinese style buffet, room is a little cramped but our group managed well enough. It has a balcony bar on 6th floor, which isn't great as far as drinks menu goes, but a beer is welcome to relax and watch the street entertainment from the balcony. It is right in the middle of the main entertainment area, which means only a stroll down the street, across the overpass and you are there, really great position. ||||As we were part of a tour group, check in and check out were organised for us but it didn't take too long anyway. ||||If you are looking for 5 star upmarket accommodation, this is not it, but it is 3 star, clean and friendly, so I would recommend it on...
