A monument in commemoration of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of the Republic of China (don’t confuse with the communist regime People’s Republic of China). He played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing dynasty during the years leading up to the Revolution of 1911. He was also the 1st Provisional President of the Republic of China. He later co-founded Kuomintang. Undoubtedly an important figure in modern Chinese history.
