最快捷到達牛耳石山方法從北潭涌巴士總站坐94，96R巴士在北潭凹站下車跟著走麥理浩徑3段。一開始就要從海拔100米左右的山徑入口行大約2000級梯級爬升到海拔四佰多米山脊位置。在山脊較平緩路段向墇上方向走大約二百多米後轉入左邊一處不顯眼的支路（唔記得有冇絲帶標記）,再沿小路靠左一直前走便能到達一塊小平地的山頂。（牛耳石山無標高柱） 牛耳石山位處群山圍抱，山頂景觀大部分睇見附近相約高度山景但亦可遠眺赤徑一帶海域，景緻一般。
