I'm not celebrating an evil man, but it seemed an obligatory thing to do in Medellin. A very divisive figure with the locals. Most people here know someone who died at his hand, but there were also many he saved from poverty and continue to live in the houses he built for them. A small part of me has a little respect for him because he came from nothing, and rose to take on the world. However, he did unspeakable things and dragged Colombia through the mud, living off people's misery around the world, so he wont be missed. Fascinating life story all the same. The cemetery itself, is very pretty and well maintained, with a stunning panoramic view of Medellin and the hills.

Brought flowers to a man who hurt many, a man who helped some, and a man who came from nothing and dominated the world like never before. I admire the hustle, grind and moreover, the drive this man had. Just coming back from, spending time at his brother's home, other places Pable lived, La Cathedral, and moreover, Communa 13... you'd appreciate what he did and started there. Sure hurt more than helped, but that's this man's life, Pablo Escobar.

Pablo Escobar's tombstone is at a family grave site with several headstones. Set in an idyllic panoramic scenery which shows the bustling future of Bright Eternal Spring Medellin taking over its grim past. Pablo becoming just an historical image ... maybe an historical icon or crime meme ... or just a Post-modernist Parody of himself in series and movies such as El Padron del Mal and Narcos.
