Ariki Adventures — Attraction in Takitumu

I am not sure any words could do justice to the magical experience of swimming with the turtles with Ariki Adventures. Firstly, the team were exceptional. My Mum was quite nervous about her ability to sea scooter with the turtles and very nearly pulled out before even getting in the water. It didn't take long for the Ariki crew to pick up on her nerves and they made her feel so comfortable. Having two kids and a nervous Mum in the group I was trying to keep an eye on everyone (and very inexperienced myself!) - there was no need to worry about anyone. One of the guides stuck with Mum and insisted that I enjoy my experience. It wasn't long before Mum was comfortable and swimming alongside these beautiful creatures. I wasn't sure what to expect but seeing 20+ turtles in their own habitat and getting so close in such crystal clear waters totally exceeded my expectations. On our last morning when we asked each person in our group what the highlight of the week was, every person except two said it was the Turtle tour. Choose Ariki! If you are visiting Rarotonga, this is truly a bucket list activity. We had a 7am booking (arriving 30 minutes before departure for gear fitting, safety briefing, etc). We woke up to strong winds and rain. When we arrived, the guides went out to ensure the passage was safe to go snorkeling and that the visibility was okay. With the yes from the guides, Jonny took myself, and 5 others (including 2x under 10 yr olds out as the first group), we had a minimum of two guides with us at all times, safety is definitely paramount for this company. Myself and my husband have a lot of snorkeling, swimming, and diving experience, so we were comfortable with strong currents. The family with us with two young ones were SO well looked after with life jackets and rescue tubes to help them out. The sea scooters were a blast (especially if you're confident in the water you can have a lot of fun and get down deep - we managed 11 meters depth). This was the HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY- Ariki Turtle Tour. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING.

This is certainly something I would highly recommend. The tour group we went with break the group into small groups, with a guide for each group, then another two people watching over the entire group. Very safe.

SO Beautiful, graceful and such a privilege to be in the water with amazing sea life. We also got to see a cheeky manta ray, soooo Beautiful.

I feel very grateful to the amazing crew of the Ariki tours for taking care of mum, the sea scooters and not being able to wear glasses was making it a bit discombobulating for her, and they did not want her to miss out, so they put her into the rubber rescue boat and took her out to the area where the turtles would be, as we were all making our way out through the channel.

So, mum got to get in the water out there, safe and secure, and see the turtles and wild life. So grateful, beyond words, at their caring and concern.
