Although there were some beautiful orchids, indeed, the grounds overall appeared a bit run down and dry. Maybe because of the season. The owner was very courteous and nice, and made us feel comfortable to enter and tour at our own pace, but the general opinion of us 3 was that what we were seeing was not worth the price of admission. There was only 1 bird, the white cockatoo, and his habitat and living conditions made us very sad. For such an intelligent being to be confined without proper toys, stimulation, and space to explore is a shame. And I saw a squirrel coming into the bird's cage to steal its food. So heartbreaking. If anyone local knows how to advocate on behalf of that cockatoo, please do so. We, unfortunately, are leaving tomorrow, and this was the only disappointment of...

Great gardens to visit! More than gardens actually as there is a bit of bird life to take in too. The grounds are spectacular and would imagine they would be even more vibrant (and greener) during the rainy season. There was some nice stuff in the greenhouses but not too much in flower. There is one greenhouse display area that is full of blooms and colours. There are cen net and gravel trails to follow and most of the different flora and fauna have Spanish and English signage indicating what they are. There is also a cafeteria with inside and outside seating. A great way to kill a couple hours while at the same tome taking in some beauty! Admission:...

We were extremely disappointed. For starters, it was 4500/each for seniors. The cashier tried to short me 1000 in change. The few orchids we saw were beautiful, not a lot of species, and in reality, very few to look at. There was no information available except on a few permanent large plants, no map, no guidebook, etc. No animals, as others mentioned. Truly, you'll see more variety and numbers at your local grocery store! Super disappointed! Oh, the man in the parking lot came and tracked me down to say I'd left the car window open a couple of inches. He got the tip on...

An absolutely gorgeous Garden. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with some well kept wild birds around the property. There is an beautiful restaurant when one can sit and relax and have some really good food. The owners are always on the property and willing to answer questions and explain orchid care. I highly recommend this place for families an anyone wanting to know more about orchids or just have a relaxing afternoon.

I’ve been wanting to visit the orchid gardens in La Garita for quite a while. It’s only about a 30-minute drive from Santa Ana so I invited my two lovely neighbors to join me. The gardens are absolutely beautiful—a serene, park-like setting where you can admire hundreds of orchids and other tropical plants. We spent a few peaceful hours wandering the paths, taking it all in. Next time, we all agreed: we’re packing a picnic! 🌸🧺

Wonderful example of a Costa Rican small business that treasures the environment. The owner has lovingly converted an old coffee plantation into a beautiful garden with walking paths and plant identification signs. He has a unique playground for children and a small cafe. Plus his passion is growing orchids, he is truly a master amateur botanist. Beautiful blossoms, including the purple national flower of Costa Rica.
