Beautiful beach. Road to access beach requires 4x4 vehicle - very bumpy and not in fantastic shape, so be careful and drive slow. Beach is beautiful and hardly any other visitors. The water is very easily swimmable for anyone with an average swimming ability. Water is also very warm and quite clear. Some larger waves and a bit of a current that wouldn’t be suitable for children unless under close supervision. Great viewpoint for sunsets, lots of trees for shade, rock outcroppings and fine, soft sand make for the perfect photo opportunities. My friends and I spent a few days at this beach during our short stay in the area as we all collectively decided it was our...

Easily one of our favourite beaches within this coastal strip! The black sand is a little finer and tends to stick to your feet, and there isn’t a wash station, but the secluded vibe keeps those downfalls in check. The beach is immaculate and I found the surf to be fun to ride the wave dude 🌊. This said… not the best beach for kids to have the courage to enter the water. The waves were larger and crashed in, making it intimidating for little ones. If kids are good playing in the sand, there’s plenty to be played with. After a quick walk down the beach, I discovered a bunch of shell crabs and collected them in an emptied coconut to play with back...

Accessing is difficult since is a rock road. If you are not used to drive downhill in a road, it might damage the wreck of your car. However, we went there in a chopper (motorcycle), and we didn't have any issue. There is a lot of trees where you can rest and enjoy the sound of the waves (that are very strong). You can go from Prieta to playa Penca by crossing a dirt road through the mountain ( it takes like 2 minutes). In Penca, you will have calmer waves and white sand but...
