Easily accessible with parking close by between two resorts, manned by female car guards, the one closest to our car whom we paid 2000 colonès upon our departure. The water is absolutely calm, no waves, and quite warm. The sand, once you get past the initial few steps of surf (which has broken shells and pebbles), is super soft and so lovely underfoot. A portion of the water is buoyed off for kid-safe swimming. There were a few cute hermit crabs on the soft, sandy beach. 🏝🐚🦀🏖 Lots of families with little kids, seemingly mostly from the two resorts, but not crowded. Massages and jet skis available but no vendors to bother you. Also very safe as there is visible security outside the resort. Lots of trees for shade. The far side of the beach was completely empty. Did not see any sea urchins or sticks as some of the reviews mentioned. We loved our romantic Christmas eve Tuesday afternoon swimming, shelling, sunbathing and relaxing on...

I prefer beaches that are accessible and water that is calm & clear, gradually get deeper, and have sand (not stones) in the water. For these reasons, I've enjoyed many beaches in the Caribbean. So far, I've experienced about 20 beaches on the west coast of Coata Rica, and Playa Pamama is my favorite so far. It ticks most of the boxes. Reading other reviews, I'd be careful of urchins in the water and out (thieves), and I'm happy that I didn't see/smell washed up rotting fish. We had a fabulous time, and I wish it could have lasted much longer. Be sure to always have some money to pay the local "parking pope".....if you don't, they might take the air out of a tire. By being there, they likely do prevent theft from vehicles. If I'm only at a beach for an hour or so, I usually tell them and ask if $2 is enough, which it...

We went here on a weekday in the morning. A lot of locals come here and the beach is very clean (i.e. no glass etc) so it's safe for kids. There are no waves as such but very mild ones at the feet. There were a few vendors at the time we went. You will need to bring your own chairs to sit on or you can rent them (we didn't and we didn't realize you could until our driver mentioned it). There are shaded areas so feel free to sit on the grass on a towel. I gave it a 4 only because there is no public seating like at Playa Hermosa.

Also, no showers to clean up after the sea bath so bring water to clean up afterwards.

Beautiful beach for relaxing and...

Playa Panama is a fairly nice beach. It's mostly locals here, not many tourists, just local families. There is plenty of space to spread out, lots of trees for shade, and soft dark brown sand. There's a lady collecting money near the parking area. It's fine. Give her a couple bucks/ a few thousand Colones. She needs it more than you do.

Calm beach to watch the sunset and take great shots! You can also do stars photography here. There is almost no nocturnal lighting contamination around. The beach is pretty safe, waves are truly low and gentle. You should stop by at least once.
