We went white water rafting with Tico's yesterday and we had the most amazing time! The co. worked with us when we had to reschedule our vacation and change our dates due to COVID-19. Everyone wore masks during the van rides to/from the river and they used gloves when preparing our lunch, which included delicious fresh pineapple and fresh guacamole. Fabio was our guide and he truly made the tour a FUN adventure. We are a family of 4 with two teens, ages 13 and 16 years old. Our kids had not rafted before whereas we had done it a few times, but we are a thrill seeking family. Fabio expertly took us down Class I to Class 4 rapids. I think that we all came close to falling in a couple times and that's what created the excitement! No one actually fell in and I am confident that it was due to Fabio. He has years and years of experience, including Class VI rafting. He has worked in the US and speaks fluent English, plus he is very good and gauging what people are seeking in their experience (i.e. a quiet / peaceful trip, a fun/exciting trip filled with information or joking around, etc.). We enjoyed his fun personality and he helped with our daughter when she became tired and hangry. The owner's son, Roberto Jr, was in the kayak always nearby and ready to save us if we fell in. We called him the "life saver". Fabio was kind enough to make a pit stop for us to walk up to a set of waterfalls for a quick dip and our daughter jumped in from rocks. The photographer took great pictures, which we purchased because we woke up to realize that our water camera was not charged. If you have a camera, you can bring it and there is large water proof container on the boat to hold it. I wish that we had our camera too but they took such good pictures that we captured the memories in a perfect way without it. The scenery is stunning and floating between the canyons down the river (in the water/out of the boat) was beautiful and peaceful. We were concerned about being cold but the weather turned out gorgeous and we were only cold a bit here or there. We forgot our sunblock and suffered the consequences of a good sunburn so I recommend wearing a UPF shirt and using sunblock if you burn. There are toilets available at the beginning and end of the trip, as well as changing rooms. The owner Roberto, stays with the vehicle and ensures that nothing will be stolen. We felt comfortable and safe the whole time. Since the raft holds 6, as mentioned by prior reviewers, you may want to check on how you will be paired with other people to be sure the group in your boat is suitable to you. We loved every minute of this trip and highly recommend Tico's!! We relied on Trip Advisor reviews when choosing Tico's and want to pay it back to the community by leaving our own detailed review for others. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to write...
Read moreThe Tour with Tico's River Adventure was perfect. Roberto pick me up at my hostel @8am. It takes less than an hour to get to the river. The equipment for safety and the raft itself were in a very good condition. Roberto's beloved bus, which took us to the river, was very clean and well maintained. We were in total two rafts and 10 People + 2 Guides. Also we were the first company on the river 😁 Our guides Fabio and Charlo were super friendly and helpful. They are very experienced rafting guides and you feel safe with them. The river has class 1 - 4 rapids, it's so much fun and a real Adventure 👌 The landscape in the jungle is breathtaking and unique. Fabio and Charlo prepared an excellent lunch on the river bank. The lunch was very delicious - cold buffet with freshly prepared food. Something for everyone and the homemade Guacamole from Fabio was definitely the best. Muchas Gracias! For a fantastic day. It was so much fun with you guys 😊
I would definitely recommend this company! It's a small, family owned company and not large and crowded with people. They did...
Read moreFloat this river while in CR…..absolutely breathtaking scenery and basically a roller coaster ride from start to finish. I guarantee it will be a trip highlight.
GO WITH ROBERTO (owner of Ticos)….he is incredibly fun and helpful on the river and organized and responsive while planning the trip. He runs a truly first class operation. Incredible guy!
Don’t be scared off by rain….we were concerned with our weather the morning of the trip (cool and raining), but between starting at lower elevation (little warmer than Turrialba) and the adrenaline, we were pleasantly surprised with our comfort during the float.
The lunch on the river was very good….normally, lunches on these types of trips are more of a “check the box” thing….but, Roberto and his son (also Roberto) made a very nice, fresh spread for the meal.
Can’t say enough good things about this trip and...
