Hotel Geliwa — Hotel in Turrialba

This is a good basic place and the grounds with beautiful plants and even the pool are very nice. There are even basic benches and tables and electrical outlets so you can work near the pool with laptops and charge cell phones/tablets. Still, ...

1. We were 2 people but until we asked there was only 1 towel and 1 small soap.

2. The suicide shower water heater in room 60 really felt like suicide because the water was not very warm and I tried to move the selector to the hotter setting and received an electrical shock both times I touched it... and moving the selector didn't increase the temperature. Then when my head was under the shower I was again electrocuted. My head was within 1 inch of the shower head when this happened, twice. I verified this by moving my hand that close the the shower head and again was shocked by the electricity.

3. The rooms and bedding are very clean but not well maintained. There is a small entry table and a work desk which were helpful, and near the bathroom a cabinet to hang clothes but only 2 hangers.

4. I would NOT want to stay here if it was warmer. The best way to cool the room is to leave the door open, which isn't practical while sleeping or changing clothes. The tiny window louvers don't let much air in but do let in the mosquitoes at night, so the rooms are too warm even when the air is cool outside. The wall fan in the room helped, but again I wouldn't want to stay here if it was a warm or hot day.

5. I should have known the coffee had a price. There are signs which clearly show prices for all the cookies/crackers, but no mention about a price for coffee. When Ceasar asked if I wanted coffee, I assumed the coffee was included in the room rate. Ceasar told me AFTER making the coffee that I could pay for it when checking out. It was only 1,000 CRC per cup but still...

Die Anlage ist leider im maroden Zustand. Der Pool ist dreckig und Fliesen fehlen überall. Die Pumpe wird nur angestellt, wenn man schwimmen möchte, aber das haben wir uns gespart. Wir sollten das Zimmer 60 bekommen mit einem elektrischen Duschkopf für Warmwasser. Da die Kabel aber offen waren und das Badezimmer im wirklich schlechten Zustand war, haben wir das Zimmer gewechselt. Vieles ist leider kaputt, wie Z.b Sitzbänke. Für eine Nacht kann man buchen, aber mehr auch nicht. Der Mitarbeiter kämpft dort gegen Windmühlen. Er sitzt an der Rezeption, versucht den Pool zu reinigen, repariert das WLan, etc... Er ist sehr nett und...

Un lugar bonito y acogedor, silencioso y tranquilo con una piscina ideal para relajarse. Su personal es muy cordial y atento, siempre disponible para atender a los huéspedes de la mejor manera. Lo recomiendo ampliamente, ya sea si su viaje es por trabajo, por descanso o sea que vas de paso y buscas un lugar tranquilo y seguro para descansar.
