If you’re looking for a serene nature experience just outside Copenhagen, Jægersborg Dyrehave (Deer Park) is a must-visit. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a huge, open landscape where hundreds of free-roaming deer live among ancient oak trees and rolling meadows.
What makes it special is the feeling of stepping into a completely different world. The park is massive, so even on busy days, you can find quiet spots to just breathe and enjoy nature. The deer are used to people, which makes wildlife photography fantastic here—you can get close without disturbing them, as long as you move calmly and respectfully.
There are also beautiful old trees, lakes, and scenic paths that make this a perfect spot for long walks, cycling, or even horseback riding. Bring an audiobook or a camera and lose yourself for a few hours. If you go early morning or around sunset, the light is magical and the deer are more active—perfect for photographers.
There’s no entrance fee, which is incredible for a place this beautiful. Just remember to wear good shoes, bring water, and respect the wildlife.
✔ Best for: Nature lovers, photographers, walkers, and anyone who needs a mental reset. ✔ Photography tip: Use a telephoto lens if you want intimate deer shots without stressing them—200mm+ works great. ✔ Bonus: Bakken (the world’s oldest amusement park) is right next door if you want to combine nature with...

The visuals/aesthetics were absolutely beautiful and the storytelling was also top tier 🔥❤️ I will say though, that the acting felt a bit off, I wish the main character was played by someone else and that Thor didn't constantly act and talk like the big danish hippo comedy animal DOLF, since that was extremely offputting. Overall, a phenomenal play, but it was too childish and silly at many times which kind of ruined it for me on/off, or atleast removed my immersion 👍
That said, I would recommend going to see this production, it is quite unique and unlike anything ive seen theater-wise, and overlal ots also just a very nice summer evening in the forest. Buying the event picnic baskets is also very much worth it ! The food was delicious and served...
Read moreDyrehaven (liters “The Deer Park”) is large a park and an old forest with wide old oaks and beeches at the northern outskirts of Copenhagen in North Zealand. It’s a natural resort with many yearly events such as the Hermitage Run, Hubertus Hunt, closing of Bakken (a fun park in Dyrehaven and one of the oldest in the world) and many other events. You can ride horses, bike or run on the many trails with notable elevations in the hills. There are multiple restaurants both in Bakken and elsewhere.
In the middle of the park on top of a hill is a hunting castle (the hermitage royal hunting lodge) with a great view to the oceanfront.
And of cause the park is a deer sprawl. They are everywhere, so you a gonna see them.
In short; the best outdoor place close to Copenhagen for many...
