We did a tour which took us up to the Teleferico and we continued the trek up to the swing. It took us approx 30 mins of heavy breathing to hike to the swing, approx 1/2 mile long trail and a 500 foot climb. Conveniently there is a great place for a rest stop, where a lady has 2 llamas for those looking for a nice tourist photo op. It was 50 degrees at 13,300 feet there and within 3-4 minutes you got very warm wearing those pancho's. We got to the top at 13,600 feet where there is a stunning view of Quito and the surrounding ring of volcanoes, oh the Llamas/Alpacas are so cute. We did this Fri. Aug 29th and there were very few people there. The climb isn't too bad as long as you stop enough times to catch your...

There is a better chance of cloud free conditions. However, we did a sunset tour. The sun settled behind the vulcano and that gave a fine spectacle of colours. On the way down we were treated to the many lights of Quito. Either way, it's a fine experience. We took a taxi from the basilica for around 5$ each way. The teleferico was 9$, first up at 10 and...
