The Guangüiltagua Metropolitan Park is probably one of the best urban parks I have ever been. With an amazing infrastructure, plenty of trails and nice views from surroundings of Quito (including Cotopaxis) the park definitely worths a visit for those passing through Quito and who are interested in some outdoors activities.
The place is incredibly well maintained and offers all you need for a great weekend day with your family, dog or by yourself enjoying nature right next door from the city center.
There are several walking trails covering the park, which go through it’s great woods and artistic interventions, and also through the view points in the park, who is located in the limits of Quito plateau. There are also a lot of child friendly spaces, plenty of areas for barbecue and picnic and a very nice dog zone.

Read moreThis is a decently chill park. I visited several times with a girl I went out with a few times in Quito. There are playgrounds, dog areas, hiking trails, bathrooms (without toilet paper), tunnels, and fields. There are also isolated flowers growing here and there. Getting up to the park is a bit of a hike on foot because of the steep grade of the road that leads to it. One of the times we visited, we rented some electric scooters to get to the top. In any event, once you're actually in the park, there's plenty to do. Just be careful of the weather-- it can change quickly at such a high elevation.
