The Pyramid of Teti, located in Saqqara, was built for Pharaoh Teti, the first ruler of Egypt's Sixth Dynasty, around 2345 BC. Though not as large as some of the earlier pyramids, it is historically significant. The pyramid originally stood about 52 meters high but has since been reduced to a mound due to erosion. One of the most important features of Teti’s pyramid is the inclusion of the Pyramid Texts, the earliest known religious inscriptions in ancient Egypt, which are carved on the walls of the burial chamber. These texts were meant to guide and protect the pharaoh in the afterlife and laid the foundation for later funerary practices. The pyramid is part of a larger mortuary complex, which includes a temple and smaller pyramids for Teti’s queens. Despite its deteriorated state, the Pyramid of Teti remains an important site for understanding ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and...

Pyramid Complex of Teti is located at Saqqara near Mastaba of Mereruka, It’s a smooth sided Pyramid that was built during the 6th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, and it is historically known as the second pyramid that is containing Pyramid’s Texts. Excavations have revealed a satellite pyramid, two pyramids of Queens accompanied by cult structures, and a funerary temple. The pyramid was opened by Gaston Maspero in 1882. It was originally called “Teti’s Places...

This made-of-clay King Teti Pyramid though mostly no longer shows any straight edges on the 4 sides due to the soft clay material, is the most favorite Pyramid for our tour director. Its inscriptions are among the best intact with time. The Teti Pyramid offers a very short tunnel into large Chambers which contain a huge basalt sarcophagus. We were totally jaw dropped for how big, heavy it is and perplexed how it's even moved into this location...

A pyramid under the sand of the desert, where you can access inside it. The entrance is narrow and you will find a lot of people going out while you descend, it is not suggested for people with claustrophobia because in the entrance and the chambers inside will be crowded. But at the end it is worth to visit and see the sarcophagus located in there.

Teti's Pyramid is such a cool spot to visit! The Pyramid Texts inside are amazing – it's incredible to see something so old and meaningful up close. It’s not as big as the Giza pyramids, but it’s got its own unique charm. The whole area feels calm and less crowded, which makes it even better. Definitely worth checking out if you're into history!
