Идея строительства церкви принадлежала баронам Эммасте, Сууремыйза и Путкасте, которые дали барону Кярдла 2000 рублей. Добровольные пожертвования сделали и работники суконной фабрики, а часть суммы на строительство было просто удержано из зарплат работников. Архитектура зальной церкви, западный фасад которой украшает открытая колокольня (единственная в Эстонии), очень гармонична. По своей простой и аскетической архитектуре церковь Кярдла очень стильная, и одна из самых своеобразных среди церквей...
