All Aboard the Brand New Mayan Train: Ruins, Flamingos, Chocolate, and Every Vehicle Imaginable! We’ve just wrapped up 8 unforgettable days of adventure, history, and a whole lot of modes of transport in southern Mexico. From exploring the majestic Mayan ruins of Palenque (where the howler monkeys put on a great show) to the colourful charm of Campeche’s walled city, every stop was a new favourite. We rode the new Tren Maya Train like pros, donned hand-woven jipijapa palm hats with flair, and soaked up the mystery of Uxmal in the Puuc region. We learned that chocolate isn’t just delicious—it’s practically sacred (and we respectfully devoured it). Flamingos showed off their style in Sisal’s lagoons, cenotes gave us magical swims, and Merida dazzled with its haciendas and rich culture. We traveled by plane, bus, van, train, moto-taxi, horse cart, and boats that looked suspiciously like bathtubs! Add in some truly amazing traditional cuisine, and let’s just say… we’re full—in every sense of the word. Would do it all again. Thanks to Dan & Flip Flop Tours for an amazing tour, educational & Cultural tour.

We absolutely loved our five day Flip Flop tour to Morelia, Michoacan and surrounding "Magic Cities" featuring artisans of copper, wood, clay, iron, and stitchery. It was the perfect Valentine's Day at the Monarch Butterfly refuge, professionally guided by Dan and Ramond, and we even rode horses! The butterflies were magnificent and fully performing that day. It was magical. After a full day of butterflies and viewing artisan masterpieces, we returned to our beautiful historical hotel for a quick rest and then dinner and a walking tour of Patzcuaro. The next three days we travelled to the cities of Capula, Santa Clara de Cobra, Tzintzuntzan, Tlaquepaque where we met the artisans of clay, and copper and watched demonstrations of their crafts. All in all the tour was filled with wonderful experiences and historical information. Dan is a master of guiding and teaching Mexican history, making everyday a meaningful experience. I highly recommend this particular tour and all other tours offered by Dan and Flip Flop Nomad Tours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent tour with Dan to Michoacán. In 5 days, we experienced and learned so much about the region. It was informative, relaxed, and fun. The butterfly sanctuary was a wonderful experience and a highlight for us. The choice of 17th-century hotels for our accommodation was spot on 😊😊. We loved all the interesting places we visited on this tour and would definitely recommend Dan and his company Flip Flop tours to others. Karent was a great and knowledgeable guide. Oh, and the bus was comfortable with a bathroom on board and an excellent, very professional driver!

Amazing trip with Daniel, from Flip Flop Nomad Tours. First off, Daniel is very informative and a total pleasure to spend 4 days with! Daniel goes above and beyond on all his Tours, certainly the #1 Tour company in the area. Fluent in Spanish /English and is very informative in the the areas we visited. Our tour was to the city of Tequila, where we did Tequila tasting at the amazing JOSE CUERVO distillery. Next day was to the historic town of Mangdalena, mining for Opals, then on to the amazing and historic city of Guadalajara. A tour of the historical downtown core, where we stayed. Next day off to the markets at Tonala, then to the beautiful trendy upscale shopping and restaurants of Tlaquepaque. It was a very well organized and diverse trip! Highly recommended Flip Flop...
