Pretty but definitely need a car
This was a pretty chalet about 2 km up a steep hill so a car is essential. You park over the road in the general parking area where there are also conveniently placed recycling bins. There are just over 20 steps to climb to get into the chalet but a shovel is provided if you want to keep them completely clear. Our husbands loved the hot tub after ski-ing each day and as non-skiers we sat on the decking to catch some sun, although it was disappearing behind the trees around 1pm at this time of year.
The welcome pack was very good especially the beer for the boys and the Molten Brown products. The beds were comfortable and the showers were excellent with plenty of hot water. We were a party of 4 adults and found the extra space useful. We would have found a freezer handy, as it wasn't an option to keep walking to the shops like we normally do. I thought the separate dining room would have been a squeeze if there were more than 8 of you. If the door to the dining room opened out into the hall rather than into the room it would be more convenient and people sitting near the door wouldn't have to get up to let people in.
The extra tall fridge in the boot room was very useful, as there was only a small chest fridge that you had to bend down to in the actual kitchen and it was a little hard to stack a lot of products in there. We cooked for 5 nights in the chalet and the chalet was well stocked with implements etc and used the hob and the oven successfully.
We ended up in this location because of a mix up over the chalet's location, which has now been fixed. We made the best of a bad situation but ordinarily as a party that included non-skiers we would not have booked a location where you can't walk to the pub or bakery without a car. If you are ski-ing and are prepared to drive to the slopes yourself each morning then it is perfect. If you like exercise then the long walk down to the bus stop at the bottom of the hill...
Read moreI have visited Chamonix Chalet with my family several times over the last couple of years, the accommodation is spacious and perfectly suited for a relaxed break situated in the Alpine mountains close to Chamonix, the chalet has got so much to offer and have Wi-Fi throughout the chalet. There are many different walks from easy to difficult which we have done, routes are marked with distance and time and returning after a walk we would normally jump into the Jacuzzi to relax, or even spend some time in the sauna. Afternoons were normally spent with a nice barbeque or drive into Chamonix for a meal. There are so many activities and places that we have visited and sometimes just spending time at the chalet in the quiet serene surrounding. Attached photos were taken during our many hikes and explorations. I would highly recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a relaxing break, or an adventure-filled holiday and I can’t wait to go back again for another...
Read moreMy group of lads has been renting Fenton's chalet in Les Houches for over 20 years. Fenton has constantly updated the chalet with the best connectivity. The wifi is amazing, with great coverage throughout the property. The chalet has all the home comforts, such as a nespresso machine and a printer/scanner.
There is always a welcome pack of beautiful French charcuterie and beer. Little touches like the Molton Brown toiletries make it feel like a very upmarket experience. On the technical side, the heating is excellent and there is plentiful hot water, even with 8 people in the chalet.
The sauna and the hot tub are great touches and they are always kept beautifully clean and fresh. As you would expect, the whole chalet is kept clean and tidy.
Altogether an excellent experience. We will be back again next February. Can't...
