This review is actually for the amazing little cafe at the entrance to the jardin. It was a literal oasis for us as it was 36C and roasting that day. It's owned by a lovely couple - the lady runs the front of house and the man is the chef. A delicious and well curated wine list that I would have been proud to pour during my wine bar days, lots of options and well priced (25€ muscadet was like mana in the heat). We didn't eat as it was too hot but iced coffee was great, strawberry juice refreshed and the wine saved us. Our water jug was topped with cold water as often as we wanted and the menu did look really good. We had so much fun that we just stayed there and skipped the jardin as the heat was too much. Music was a mix of classic French tracks and the shade and seating was very comfortable. Make sure you stop in and support this excellent independent...
Read moreLarge space available for free, but more like a public parc than a botanical garden. Quite interesting habitats arranged on rocks and nicely arranged ponds with water plants. Interesting bryophytes on wooden fence and epiphytes on trees. Still a lot of space free and not arranged (we were told later, than the garden is still under construction). Unfortunatelly dogs are allowed inside and frequently moving unattended. The ticketed space is only one greenhouse - 5 euro for a ticket is far to much for such a small experience, even if the selection of tropical plants is interesting. Keeping in just one greenhouse plants from different habitats - not a good idea, there should be various zones of different humidity and temperature (eg. Nepenthes in poor condition). Nice staff, but speaking only very basic English. On the exhibition only French...
Read moreThe botanical garden of Bordeaux is a lovely oasis of peace close to the city center. You can either sit on the grass or walk on the trails while looking at all the plants and trees. The small lake is also a beautiful spot. Fully recommended to chill out during a visit...
