Camping Huttopia Vallouise — Attraction in Briançon

This is a really nice campsite about 5 or 10 mins walk from the village centre. |One bit of booking advice I'd give: if you've got kids or in fact anything other than a small tent, a Comfort Plus pitch is a must. We've got a campervan and an awning that my son sleeps in and our standard pitch... well, we were edge to edge and practically in our neighbours porch. The staff were lovely and very helpful and we were able to move as the site wasn't full (end of August).|The campsite seems vast, lots of trees and mountains everywhere you look. Facilities were spotless, reception sells maps, cereal, bread (to order) and other bits and pieces. There’s a snack bar but it was closed the second week (end of August).|There’s a river running past the site and some nice walks straight from the site, gentle strolls by the river or more challenging up into the mountains – IGN maps 3536 & 3436 were useful for planning walks plus a decent walking app. |I’d recommend driving up to the village of Chambran and parking there (there’s a nice cafe), it’s the start of the Ecrins National Park and it’s stunning (no dogs allowed tho). You can walk from there to the Lac de l’Eychauda. Also visit the village of Puy st Vincent either by some great walking trails or bike.|Cycling is steep! There were lots of mountain bikers and you can hire bikes at the campsite. We took road bikes, my husband rode over the Col d’Izoard (about 100km while I did a few short but very hilly rides. From Vallouise you can ride (or drive) up the main road through Ailefroide to the top where you can see the glaciers and the ice blue mountain water.|The village has a few shops, there’s a Casino supermarket on the outskirts and a veg stall. There are a couple of nice restaurants and a pizza place and it’s all easy walking distance. Try the locally brewed Alphand beer – they’ve also got a bar and restaurant in Vallouise.|Our only regret is that we weren’t...

I have just returned from a motor home trip in the Southern Alpes. By far the best site we used on the whole trip was the Huttopia site in Vallouise. A superbly positioned site in the middle of a gorgeous village, within walking distance of all bars/restaurants and the best patisserie ever. With only a week to go until the end of the sites summer season, one could expect the place to be a bit tired, but not at all. Large well spaced pitches, absolutely immaculate washrooms and toilets with ample hot water, a pristine heated swimming pool and a very well appointed, cosy and warm meeting room, offering free Wi-fi, maps of the area and other useful information. The staff were very helpful, spoke good English. We didn’t use many of the facilities on offer on this trip, but will definitely be going back for longer. Day time temperatures were great, but at the end of September it’s worth having a warm jacket for the evenings, the temperature drops very quickly. ||Overall a really...
