This is an absolutely brilliant museum, charting the history of fire-fighting through many examples of fire-fighting machines and vehicles through the ages. Many of the examples are from local fire brigades as well as some fantastic gifts from further afield such as the Prince of Monaco. Upstairs the collection of uniforms, helmets and fire-extinguishers charts the development of fire-fighting through the ages, and my 3 year old son's favourite exhibit was the collection of fire-fighting models. The shop has a wonderful range of small fire engines, and outside there is a helicopter and other large vehicles. Read moreA worthwhile visit to see fire engines from around France and Europe. The appliances date from 1700 to 2000. As well as the fire appliances there are the uniforms and helmets from the past to the present of all European states. (Where did the UK uniforms go we stupidly left?)
Opening days are limited. So check the dates. We visited on a Saturday.
