A stunning natural preserve area. Tons of hiking, wonderful landscapes and extremely kind people. Best hikes are in my opinion : La grande Sure from les 3 fontaines Charmant Som Chamechaude Cirque de Saint Même Dent de Crolles Grand Som Lance de Mallisard

Plenty of quaint ski resorts in winter too, both downhill and cross country skiing (recommend Saint Hughes de Chartreuse and Le Désert d'Entremont for that)

And don't forget to taste the drink with the same name : Chartreuse, a liquor prepared from a secret recipe by the monks in the Monastère de La Grande Chartreuse (also...

Chambrey is somewhat of a commercial place, although undoubtedly a place of interest to people wanting a skiing holiday or walking the undoubtedly beautiful mountainous areas, for me the town is let down. Quaint in places but restaurant are lacking in local elements that make a visit complete. The highlight without doubt is local hospitality and friendliness, following a mechanical malfunction help was offered without reservation or eye on financial reward. As in much of rural France made by...

Incredible place for hiking, amazing views, a lot of people in the way, even children. Paths perfectly marked, signs every now and then. Also 2 routes, so you can explore one going up and the other on your way down. Dent de crolles it's also known for its caves, one of them you go by in one of the paths, very cold inside, but some locals said you could go through and exit on the other side, you should be going this with some equipment and a local that...

Came here during the beginning of February and I was amazed at how easy access to the park was. The buses run regularly and the roads are all clean even with lots of snow. I walked in the GR 9 from Le Sappey de Chartreuse to the center of Grenoble and found the views to be stunning. Well worth a visit all year round.
