The Vikings — Attraction in La Roche-sur-Yon

I sort of knew what to expect with this show because, being an outdoor daytime show with lots of flames and effects, it has to be one of the most photographed in Puy du Fou. It is a dramatic spectacle with lots of violence, so perhaps not best for kids or the sensitive. It starts of with a nice peaceful village (Saxon?/Gauls? Not sure) when the Vikings descend, dramatically, with one boat sliding in down the hill and a second emerging with crew from the water and with flames - a signature technical effect at Puy du Fou! Buildings are toppled and set on fire, people are set on fire, one guy is dragged behind a galloping horse! So, as I say, perhaps not suitable for all.

Where to sit to get the best effect? Well I'd say somewhere towards the back and in the middle. Just in front of the Emotion Pass section, or in it if you have an Emotion pass. The closer you are, the less you and your camera will be...

Ce spectacle c’est clairement un concentré d’action et de mise en scène bien pensée. Dès le début, on est plongé dans un petit village paisible, et très vite… tout part en vrille avec l’arrivée fracassante des Vikings. Le rythme est soutenu, il se passe toujours quelque chose.

Ce qui impressionne surtout, ce sont les effets spéciaux en live. Les flammes, les explosions, les apparitions de bateaux (Surtout celui qui vient de sous l'eau très impressionnant)… tout est très bien orchestré. On sent qu’il y a du savoir-faire derrière chaque scène, et ça contribue à créer un vrai moment de spectacle à grand spectacle.

Les cascades sont bien réalisées, les comédiens sont à fond dans leurs rôles, et l’ensemble est super fluide.

Le seul petit point faible selon moi, c’est que le scénario est un peu simple. C’est très visuel, très impressionnant, mais on reste dans quelque chose d’assez basique côté histoire. Mais ce n’est pas un problème car le spectacle se base beaucoup sur l'action.
