We stayed here for 2 nights and it far exceeded our expections in every way. I booked online which was difficult as I do not speak any French so was completely sure I had done everything right. The check in staff were lovely and although they didn't speak much English they made such an effort and were a pleasure to talk to. Out room was lovely massive bed, big bathroom/wet room. We took my 11 year old and he slept in the bunk beds which were huge and separated from the main bedroom. It was a really comfortable size and a family with 2 children would definitely find it more than adequate. The only thing I think they missed was not having chairs on the veranda as it would have been lovely to sit our there on god hot evenings. The room was really clean plenty of towels and beds made every day. Free wifi was much appreciated by my son! Apart from the frogs and ducks it's very peaceful, you don't really see much of the other guests until you go for breakfast and wonder they have all been. We looked round the other hotels and they were all good but this one just seemed extra special. They do a good continental breakfast buffet with lots of choice but don't expect an English fry up as you will be disappointed. Good coffee machine and...
Read moreI really like these medieval huts in the Îles de Clovis (Clovis BTW, turns out to be the first king of the Franks, IE France). They're cosy, with a good bed (didn't try the bunk beds), and an excellent shower room. Wasn't expecting the mini-safe, but they are always welcome. Liked the 'set dressing' - a half-timbered upper deck with all our worldly peasant possessions; a wooden bucket and a few farming implements! "I hope there aren't mosquitoes" was the first thing my partner said we she stepped out on the balcony. Well, there certainly didn't appear to be any, which may be because the carp that immediately surface with open mouths as soon as you set foot on the balcony, have apparently been selected because they eat mosquito larvae.
On the catering side, I was disappointed with the breakfast. Way too much bread and cereals, not enough meat & cheese, but the bar surprised me by being open late at night even when you get back from late shows. Reception staff were really helpful and speak...
Read moreThis is one of the hotels in Puy de Fou, old style houses on the water bank. Two rooms per house, each with four beds. There is a bunk bed for kids and a double bed. Bathroom with a shower and a separate toiler. Plus the balcony on the water, where you can look at ducks and carps - judging by their size no feeding is needed. The rooms are equipped with TV and free wifi of good quality.||Breakfast is served in the main building, on the terrace weather permitting. Simple breakfast, only pity there are only Coco pops for cornflakes so if you want some without sugar no luck. Good break and standard things like ham, eggs, fruits. There is no bar so in the evening no place to sit for a drink or a tea. There are no tea facilities in rooms neither and you'd better bring your water if you feel like...
