Passion, Land, and Merlot based wine! I made this appointment months in advance and was able to make Chateau Tailhas my first stop at the Right Bank of Bordeaux in Pomerol (9AM). Chateau Tailhas was a pure joy with an intimate tasting with the three of us including the ever amazing multi-tasker owner/wine maker/guide, Luc! He greeted us warmly and took us around the vineyard, VAT room, Cellar, and finally the Tasting room.
Chateau Tailhas is a family owned vineyard and they do everything by hand. It's quite AMAZING and very traditional. Luc now makes the final decision with the help of his father on when to harvest the wine by simply picking the grapes and tasting it. No chemist or engineer, pure intuition!
I love the passion and pride of the Chateau Tailhas and their 2009 Merlot was fantastic; gentle, round, and soft; a great representation of their Terroir. Thanks Luc for this wonderful, unforgetable tasting experience!

Read moreThe Saint Emilion Tourism Office recommended we tour Castle Tailhas (vineyard and winery). They even called to set up the tour for us (group of 4) with Aurelie. Upon arrival, She greeted us and lead us to the vineyard explaining how they plant, grow, and harvest the vines, pointing out the many details that affect the harvest. Then she took us into the production warehouse and explained the wine making process. She really took her time with us and answered our questions. After the tour, we ended in the tasting room where she guided us through the wine tasting steps and explained what to look for using sight, smell, and taste, explaining the differences to be aware of between young wines and older wines, etc. She was very knowledgeable, thorough, and easy going. And the wine was lovely! We bought several bottles to take home with us. We would highly recommend visiting Castle Tailhas if you are...
Read moreWe visited Chateau du Tailhas in Pomerol in January with three adults and one infant. The visit including a tour and tasting was highly informative and you could tell the family has a passion for their craft. We learned quite a bit about the region and the history of the vineyard. I'd highly recommend visiting Chateau du Tailhas if you are in the region. Some of the best wine in the Bordeaux region can be found in Pomerol and this is a great place...
