Château de l'Engarran — Attraction in Montpellier

The tour had about 28 people which was far too many for only one guide who kept disappearing into the shop to sell wine and let late-comers in. The tour was a tiring 1.5 hours. The wine part unfortunately didn’t even make up for it. Not much about the wine was explained, and zero about how they make it. Also, I’ve been in a lot of wine tours and this was by far the least generous, barely a thimble of wine so a proper taste to cover the full tongue wasn’t possible. Further annoyance was caused by a very loud drunk group of French men, who the guide made no attempt to control, he in fact seemed interested joking around and trying to be friends with them. Even at the end these men helped themselves to the unattended wine bottles drinking more while the rest of the group left. Having paid for the “expert tour” and receiving literally less than one glass of wine it was quite dissatisfying. There was such little regard for the visitors the seats in the garden for the tasting portion were all stacked up and I had to open out my own to sit. A silly detail...

They did a good job with the tour and tasting. To my friends and I, this was much more about the chateau and the grounds and their history than it was about the wine. The tour guide did an excellent job on a nice, relaxed walk all through the grounds and gardens and into the chateau. Created a perfect afternoon. The wine tasting aspect just seemed disorganized compared to so many tastings I have done. No real flow or much education there. La Lionne 2016 iGP OC Château De L’ ENGARRAN

Un nez très fruits Noirs,Cannelle , Epices .On jurerai une dominante Syrah or il n’ y a pas de Syrah dans cet assemblage a dominante Cabernet Franc.Très belle attaque en bouche , suave avec beaucoup de sucrosité. Des tanins fondus avec une robe profonde .Aucune note orangée , aucun tuilé , une robe Rubis sombre très profonde. Milieu de bouche manquant un peu d’ ampleur mais assez une belle finale assez longue et très agréable. Ce vin est a son apogée et sur son plateau optimal .Tout laisse a penser que ce plateau va durer longtemps 3-5 ans je dirais . Un Potentiel Exceptionnel pour un Pays d’ Oc !!! Mais classique pour un ENGARRAN . Très belle réussite Rapport Qualité /Prix Enorme !!!! En l’ effet , pour dire a quel point un Engarran peut surmonter les années , l’ un de mes plus beaux souvenirs de dégustation Et d’ émotions de ma vie de dégustateur c’est un pur Sauvignon 2001 degusté au printemps 2018 .SUPERBE !!!! Bien sûr , on ne reconnaissait pas le Sauvignon mais une fraicheur, une finesse , une ampleur en bouche et au nez !!!!Un sauvignon de 17 ans du sud de la France !!!! Comme je dis souvent, les vins , la vigne , les vinifications , c’ est comme l’ orthographe et la grammaire , il y a les regles d’ un coté Les exceptions de l’ autre .
