There are two ways to explore this wonderful nature reserve. Independently (on foot or in an electric golf buggy) or with a guide in an electric golf buggy. Unless you are an experienced twitcher, we recommend the second option. During our 3½ hour safari, we learnt so much about the creation of the reserve in 2014, how the owners are constantly experimenting with water levels, vegetation and other environmental factors to attract different species of birds, and the Camargue in general.

Our guide was Jonathan, who created this 70-hectare private reserve with his father. He also speaks excellent English and knows the names of nearly all the birds in several languages. Over 140 different species have been spotted here, and among those observed during our visit were six types of heron, snipe, kingfishers, ducks, flamingos, storks and lapwings. There were also a couple of Camargue mares and their foals roaming around the reserve. All-in-all a most enjoyable and...

I booked the photo hide for the day and I can really recommend it and the whole park as well. 10/10!

The hide itself is rainproof and just big enough so you fit inside with your equipment. It's really easy to get nice pictures from the hide and you will be alone the whole day.

You can see mostly ducks, cormorants and herons. But also kingfishers, birds of prey and nutria are seen from time to time.

I visited the other stations as well and you can see all the species listed above, from those spots as well.

Just make sure to bring something for the mosquitoes, there...
