Île de Versailles — Attraction in Nantes

Better than what i expected! Well that's exactly facing the place where I'm staying but it wasn't until couple of days that i decided to visit this garden on a sunny day :) Beautiful spots, there are lots of families with kids on Sunday. The place is nice, and admission is free. I appreciate the idea of having a Japanese garden in Nantes. Buildings architecture is certainly reminiscent of Japan and some of the ornaments in the garden help to create the impression of being in a Japanese garden. BUT... The place is not very clean. Plants and flowers are not as well cared for as they would be in a real Japanese garden. Maybe I had an unlucky day, there were too many people, too much noise. So much potential, such a beautiful place with footpaths, ponds, waterfalls, and well-tended plants. Sadly ruined by the huge amounts of trash and odors of human urine at every turn. Overrun by street punks looking to make mischief, yelling and fighting, drinking and smoking and generally turning this pristine place of meditation into a gutter. An entry fee of even 1 euro would make hooligans think twice while allowing this place to live up to its true potential. Until that time, it will...
