I really enjoyed Château Barrière, sometimes I find the ruined chateaus more intriguing than the intact ones. We walked here from the centre of Perigueux, which wasn't too taxing (I did it in flip flops on a swollen ankle). It's free to look around and there was only one other couple there when we went at 4pm (weekday visit). You can't go in it for safety reasons but there are empty windows you can look through and benches to sit on (cafe across the road if you want a coffee) so I sat and sketched for a while. Nice and peaceful. If you get a map from the Tourist Information office it shows you what other bits you can see in the Gallo-Roman section of the town. There is a red route on the floor that you can follow from one to the next but if you're short on time I recommend the map too (it's free) so you can choose which bits you want to see most if you can't...
