Casteil Animal Park — Attraction in Prades

We went there a few weeks ago and we had high expectations as it is a place in nature. We thought that the idea of having a park where animals can be taken care of while they enjoy a kind of free life was great. However, the more we walked through the park, the more worried we were about their welfare due to some things we saw; it made us wonder whether these animals were really happy there or not. Some of the most painful examples are: Bears were stressed out going back and forth all the time in their small area!!, squirrels seemed to be aggressive to each other ( we found the place really small for them) and donkeys were surrounded by insects that made them feel really uncomfortable and they were really stressed out, too!!!. We fed one of them and he was so desperate trying to get rid of the insects around him as at the same time getting the food that , by doing so, he accidentally hit his head a few times against the fences!! (seeing this was really sad and frustrating, he was so restless!!) Moreover, wild boars had neither enough water nor shelter to protect themselves from high temperatures and it was a really hot day!!. We felt so bad after everything we saw, that our opinion about this place changed. We are not saying it is a bad place, because we are sure the intentions are good, but the park owner, carers or whoever is responsible of this place, should pay more attention to the needs of these animals !!! Belle balade mais on voit mal les animaux,vitres sales, certains animaux avec blessures,cela me fait de la peine,je trouve que c'est un peut à l'abandon pour presque 80 e 3 h

Nous habitons à 10 min et nous ne reviendrons pas,nous ne prendrons pas d'abonnement a l'année. Déjà nous achetons des glaces le personnel est blasé,après avoir travaillé juillet août, celà se voit qu'ils sont fatigués et blasés, vivement la retraite. Ensuite je surveille les enfants dans l'enclos,mon enfant fait des câlins,la dame se met à hurler à péter une durite sur ma fille lâche se lapin très méchamment !!!! Pour une première directive on peut le dire gentiment,et puis si elle chuchote dans sa barbe on ne l'entend pas. Alors ma fille 9 ans en prend pour son grade comme on se disait avec mon mari,la dame est hystérique et n'a pas osé dire au grand garçon et aux deux filles 5 min avant qui couraient et tapaient du pied,comme j'avais précisé cela les stress pour le bien être des animaux. Dans ce cas fermé aux enfants l'entrée aux poules et lapins alors que d'agresser mon enfant en sachant qu'elle le calinait et que les autres donner des coups partout et couraient je ne comprends pas peur de le dire au autres donc le vase déborde et cela tombe sur la grande la plus gentille !c'était pour elle en sachant que mon autre enfant jouait a l'extérieur de l'enclos a ce moment. Comme on se disait on voit bien qu'après la saison ils sont épuisés et blasé et pas du tout commercial et anti enfants clairement ensuite elle va la voir en sachant qu'elle ne fait plus rien et lui dit des gros mots à mon enfant,quel intelligence une adulte ?! Et l'autre hystérique qui hurle dans un haut parleur ,de l'hystérie et simplement leurs nerfs lâchent aptes le monde des vacances sur les habitants du coins tranquille. En sachant bien qu'elle ne dit rien sur les enfants du même enclos qui tapent et courent . Pourtant elle est en face et c'est au même moment ! Bonne retraite où...

This was a great morning out for a family of three, even in the heat of August. Most of the animals seemed well kept and exhibited few symptoms of boredom you would normally see in a zoo. The variety was quite astounding. Be prepared for a fair bit of uphill walking - around 200m - but you are constantly distracted from the climb by the animal pens.
