Château de Calmont d'Olt — Attraction in Rodez

My family, 3 adults from UK and HK, really had a very unexpected enjoyable and happy visit today !! Gaelle and Clement gave us a very warm welcome and briefing at the reception.

The driveway up to the château is barely one lane and lots of blind turns. There is a 200m uphill walk to the entrance. It is very quiet and a nice stop - the entire castle can be seen in an hour. Na 8 jaar waren we weer terug in dit kasteel. Leuk om er rond te lopen en alle uitleg te lezen in een aparte folder in het Nederlands. De kinderen kunnen zich verkleden als ridder of jonkvrouw. Er zijn diverse spelletjes, die in de Middeleeuwen gespeeld werden, die je zelf kon spelen. Jammer genoeg alleen met Franse uitleg, maar via Google lens heben we eea kunnen vertalen als we het niet begrepen. De medewerkers spreken naast Frans ook bijna allemaal Engels. Jammer genoeg werd het verhaal van een dag uit het leven van een "travailleur" in de Middeleeuwen alleen in het Frans verteld. Wel leuk dat de kinderen er echt bij betrokken werden door de vragen die gesteld en de voorwerpen die getoond werden. Als afsluiting werd het kanon en de trebuchet afgeschoten, een hele ervaring!
