So, the road up to the cross was the best of the journey; It was a well made hiking path, steep yes but with nice views of the mountains and with enough shade to make the trekk comfortable to the top.
After that you will be in a flat offroad rail for 4x4s that is flat and with amazing views, however really boring as its a road for cars. Then you will encounter the steepest road you will ever get, you will think the road is never ending and after 1 and a half hour you'll see the most dissaponting lakes you can encounter, the rest of the view is unbelivable; The caucasus are amazing and is totally recommendable.
Going down is the same, boring road with amazing views and in the cross you can see the full of Mestia. Just take care to make the right turn, if not you'll be in one path that slightly start to be veeery steppy; You can't get back now and then you will be the Super Fun Slide of Death tm, a circa 300mt down to hell road in which are just some branches to grab and not fall down. DO NOT GO DOWN THIS ROAD. this has to be the worst trail we ever did, where at points we thought we could slide down and seriously injure ourselves. The path is so steep and we had to go down on our butts for most of the trail. Luckily it was quite dry otherwise it had been worse. Take the car road down to Mestia and save yourself a horrible experience. The signage in Georgia for hikers is not like what it is in Europe so even though it looks easy on the mapp don’t be deceived....
