All the dishes we ordered were fabulous and the service was fast and very friendly and warm. The prices are very comfortable so the entire experince is wonderful. However, it is a bit of a climb to get there. If you are on a hiking vacation, it just adds up to your day hike :). We ordered the tomato and Georgian salads which were excelent. The vegetables were fresh and tasty and the dressing was just right. We also ordered the chvishtari , and then we ordered a second one.:). The trout was fresh and well prepared, as were the mushroons with cheese. The lobio were perfect. I had the beef stew, delicious. I want to emphesize the friendly service. The food here is honestly some of the best I’ve had in Mestia, especially if you love traditional Svanetian dishes — they really know how to do it right. Had lunch at Cafe Lanchvali, had kubdari and the Georgian lemonade, it was a big portion the cost is just right. I cannot finish so I took a take-out.
A gentleman, I think is the owner of the cafe and the Lanchvali Guest house was kind enough to tour me around the Margiani's house upon our conversation, he is a descendant of the family, he speaks professional English so it was good as we talked more during my visit.
