We stayed here 3 nights in May. If you want quaint, this place is for you but it certainly did not meet my expectation for a "castle" stay. ||||On the plus side, clean comfortable rooms are provided with decor to match the location. The location on the Schloss Ysenberg grounds is quiet and secluded from the noise of the town. Breakfast is average German fair with hard boiled eggs, cold cuts, variety of buns and cold cereals, etc. All were fresh and plentiful. Parking is readily available which may not be the case for other hotels, especially in old town Buedingen. Location is excellent for wandering around the old town and the new town commercial district is also not too far away. ||||On the negative side, the website suggests a true castle stay experience. In fact, the hotel is located in the support buildings which probably contained stables a few hundred years ago. The advertised on-site restaurant is not associated with the hotel and you cannot charge your food to your room. The hotel office is only open from 2:00 till 8:00 PM so service or information at other times is not possible. Given the price we paid, we would have expected better than the slivers of soap and foil packaged shampoos provided. The Schlossmuseum advertised is only available on certain days for view by tour appointment, something we only discovered after it was too late in the day for us to enjoy it.||||We did have an enjoyable stay and yours will be too if your expectations are not too high. However, it was overpriced for the service...

Rooms are cosy and quaint, but it is absolutely pitch black when night falls. There's no light from the outside, nor are there any night lights in the room. You either dealt with utter darkness -- so dark you can't see your own hands in front of you -- or you left the rather bright table lamp on.||||The stairs leading up to the rooms are also pitch black at night. Not even one small night light to guide you up the stairs. Mind that you don't fall over in the darkness!||||We were there in February, when temperatures were still in the vicinity of freezing. So it was quite baffling when the tour around the castle grounds was given only at 5pm in the evening. Not only did night come quickly, and you can hardly see the details of the place, temperatures fell quickly too, and it was so bloody cold. I remember not feeling my toes, my fingers and my ears soon enough.||||Breakfast was fine with a reasonable number of choices. The place is beautiful with snow too. It was wonderful to walk in the cool air of the morning, with the ground covered in snow, which had fallen during the night.||||Interesting stay, but given a choice, I wouldn't go there during winter. Having been subjected to the painful cold during the lengthy tour of the castle grounds really...
