Felsentor 'Kuhstall' — Attraction in Bad Schandau

Such a beautiful place and easy to get to. Around 1h return walk from the car park you reach the Felsentor Kuhstall. Great view but don't stop here! Walk inside the Kuhstall to the left towards the Himmelsleiter and follow that track (one way only). It's a great small stairs leading to heaven. When you get around the corner and walk down follow to Schneider Loch! Oh don't miss that. There is a small track left and one that goes straight ahead. Walk both but the stunning hidden treasure is on the track straight ahead. Walk to the end and here on the right is a very small entrance to a small cave. Go in and climb up the steps! Wow! What a view. Small cave with window is only big enough for maybe 4 or 5 people, way in and out 1...

Ein Besuch beim Kuhstall, dem zweitgrößten Felsentor der Sächsischen Schweiz, ist ein absolutes Highlight bei jeder Wanderung durch das Elbsandsteingebirge. Oben angekommen, steht man vor dem gewaltigen Felsentor, durch das einst im Dreißigjährigen Krieg die Bauern ihr Vieh (die Kühe) vor marodierenden Soldaten versteckt haben sollen – daher der Name. Die Dimensionen sind wirklich beeindruckend und bieten ein fantastisches Fotomotiv. Direkt am Felsentor befindet sich auch das Berggasthaus Kuhstall, das zur Einkehr bei einem kühlen Getränk oder einer herzhaften Mahlzeit einlädt. Das wahre Abenteuer beginnt jedoch erst im Inneren des Kuhstalls: die "Himmelsleiter". Über diese sehr schmale, steile Treppenkonstruktion, die durch einen engen Felsspalt führt, gelangt man auf das Plateau oberhalb des Felsentors. Der Aufstieg ist nichts für Menschen mit Platzangst und erfordert etwas Trittsicherheit, aber er lohnt sich zu 100 Prozent! Oben angekommen wird man mit einer atemberaubenden Panoramaaussicht über die weiten Wälder und bizarren Felsformationen der Hinteren Sächsischen Schweiz belohnt. Dieser Blick ist unvergesslich. Fazit: Der Kuhstall ist ein perfektes Ausflugsziel für die ganze Familie. Während der Hauptbereich leicht zugänglich ist, bietet die Himmelsleiter eine spannende Herausforderung für Abenteuerlustige.
