FEZ-Berlin — Attraction in Berlin

FEZ-Berlin is an absolute gem, especially for families looking for something different from the usual tourist attractions. Located just east of Berlin's center, this sprawling forest park offers a seemingly endless array of activities, making it a perfect day out for the entire family.

We visited on a beautiful August morning, and the weather couldn’t have been better. The park’s dense tree cover provided ample shade, allowing us to enjoy a leisurely bike ride through its scenic paths. The kids were thrilled with the variety of activities available—they spent hours playing games and swimming in one of the many well-maintained water pools.

One of the highlights of our visit was the picnic we had amidst the lush greenery. Although we packed our own food, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of healthy food options available in the park—far from the usual junk food you find in similar places.

FEZ-Berlin offers a perfect blend of outdoor fun and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for families. If you’re a tourist with kids looking for an alternative to the museums and typical city attractions, I cannot recommend this place enough. It’s a fantastic way to experience Berlin’s natural side while keeping the whole family...

Not really much of a downside to this, slightly odd, but many faceted youth entertainment and leisure centre. It could have gone the way of the majority of DDR institutions and been razed to the ground or turned into luxury flats, but instead, the old Pioneer HQ was allowed to carry on pretty much unmolested. Inside, once past the extremely zealous volunteers and staff, there's even a fully intact space exhibition from presumably the 1980's, left like the Marie Celeste. There's an Olympic sized swimming pool, swimming lake, "Feldbahn" railway, 2 stadiums - football and music, tons of playgrounds, and the ubiquitous staff, always keen to know if you know the way to where you're going, or if you have the right ticket, bless. Ich schreibe so gut wie nie Rezensionen, doch in dem Fall ist es mir ein Anliegen. Wir waren am Wochenende zum ersten Mal im FEZ, beim "Ich kann das schon alleine!"-Programm für 1-5-Jährige - und ich bin total begeistert. Wow! Das war wirklich ganz große Klasse!

An 36(!) verschiedenen Stationen gab es Spaß, Spiel und Spannung. Unglaublich viele Dinge zu entdecken, drinnen wie draußen. Kugelbahnen und Bällebad für ganz kleine, ein Zirkuszelt mit toller Kinder-Liveband, Bauen mit echtem Lehm, Formen von Tonfiguren, eine Bobbycar-Rennstrecken mit Waschanlage (umgebauter Rasensprenger), ein riesiger Wasserspielplatz, ein Pumptrack für Roller und Laufräder, Musikworkshops mit Trommeln, "Tretboot" fahren (mit der Hand bedient) für Kids, auch in Begleitung Erwachsener möglich. Außerdem natürlich malen, basteln, Steckspiele, Riesenbausteine. Und die ohnehin immer vorhandenen Highlights wie den Badesee und die Eisenbahn, die durch das FEZ fährt. Kurz gesagt: Es gab SO viel zu entdecken! Und durch das weitläufige Gelände hat es sich super verlaufen.

Vor Ort gab es sehr viele Mitarbeiter:innen und Betreuer:innen. Alles wurde mit viel Liebe organisiert und gestaltet. Da das FEZ ein gemeinnütziges Zentrum ist, ist das Eintrittsgeld so gestaltet, dass es sich alle Familien leisten können sollen. Als Familie zahlt man pro Person 4€, ansonsten 5€.

Worauf ich hinaus möchte: Das FEZ ist meiner Meinung nach ein absolutes Juwel und in Deutschland so sicher einzigartig. Für Kinder - und somit auch für ihre Eltern - kann es nicht Schöneres geben. Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass das Ganze noch lange lange vom Berliner Senat gefördert wird. Es wäre ein riesiger Verlust, wenn es so nicht weiter bestehen könnte. Herzlichen Dank ans ganze Team - ihr wisst vermutlich nicht, was eure Arbeit Kindern und ihren Eltern bedeutet.

Einziger Minuspunkt: Das gastronomische Angebot ist eher mittelmäßig. Getränke sind kein Problem. Das Essen ist ganz ok (preislich total in Ordnung), aber die Kapazität für so ein Wochenende nur bedingt ausgelegt. Die Imbissmitarbeiter rotieren zwar, aber können dem aber kaum gerecht werden. Die Speisen sind klassisches Fastfood (Bratwurst, Currywurst, Pommes) und entsprechen kaum den Bedürfnissen von ganz kleinen Kindern, also für diese am besten selbst...
