Winery Andreas Schmitges — Attraction in Bernkastel-Kues

Andreas and Waltraud were absolutely wonderful hosts - communicative, warm, friendly and generous with their time. The guesthouse is perfectly situated in a quiet town in the Mosel valley close to some of the larger towns like Urzig and Zeltingen and many of the best producers in Mosel. We were happy that we chose to stay here instead of one of the more touristy towns like Bernkastel. ||||The rooms are spacious and very clean, newly renovated, and the common area has a beautiful view of the vineyards. We were with one other couple and enjoyed drinking wine at the dining table each night. Andreas generously spent two hours with us one day to take us through a full tasting of their wines - all fabulous - we wish we could have brought home more! We also enjoyed the lovely breakfast spread each morning.||||Our stay here was definitely one of the highlights of our trip and we hope to visit the Mosel...

Went with my wife for a weekend stay. It was very clean and comfortable. The room had plenty of space and the bathroom was luxurious. The quality for the price was very good indeed.|The staff were great. I speak no German, but this was not a problem and we conversed fine in English. |Schmitges wine is incredible. Really very very good wine. Both dry and off dry, excellent. We bought a couple of cases to take home and visitors to our house taste it and are impressed by it.|In the morning the breakfast was fine and we were directed to a great walk, climbing high up the slopes past the vineyards, with an excellent view of the Mosel.
