Zilleskapelle — Attraction in Cochem

The climb to this small chapel overlooking the river is fairly gentle but uneven in places. Along the way are the Stations of the Cross and a small shrine to Beatrix of Engleport, a monastery near Treis-Karden. The chapel is very picturesque, with a large ornate cross and other small statuary as well as the iconic, regional roof slates. There are three benches near the door to enjoy the view. This chapel is simple but nice to see. When you have the oppertunity do check out the cross a little higher on the mountain. The path is a bit steep sometimes, but worthwhile the effort.

So eine schöne Kapelle! VorJahren bin ich den Weg mit meinen Kindern über den alten Kreuzweg hoch gegangen. Leider ist der obere Teil so zugewachsen und auch die Treppe ist zusammengefallen, dass ich den Weg aus Sicherheitsgründen nicht weiter gelaufen bin. Also um den hinteren Teil des Zillesberg gegangen und über den neuen Betonkreuzweg auf Asphalt hoch gelaufen. Keine Freude! Sehr unromantisch! Aber die Kapelle ist sehr schön und die kleine Grotte oben drüber ebenso. In der Kapelle kann man Kerzchen entzünden. Sehr gepflegtes Interieur! Und von dort geht ein Weg zum Kreuz hoch.
