Visitors Park Munich Airport — Attraction in Freising

On our way to check into the Hilton at Munich Airport, we passed by the Visitors Park—and it immediately caught our eye. With its aviation-themed playground, historic aircraft on display, and a striking observation deck, it looked like such a cool spot that we knew we had to come back before our trip ended.

We made it just in time to catch the sunset on our last night in Germany, and it was the perfect way to wrap up our trip. From the top of the observation hill, we had an amazing view of the runway and terminal, watching planes take off and land as the sky turned gold and pink. It felt peaceful, exciting, and a little emotional knowing we’d be flying out the next day.

Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just looking for a unique spot to relax and take in the sights, the Visitors Park at Munich Airport is a hidden gem. It’s easy to access, family-friendly, and a great place to soak in those final moments of...

In general a great idea. It's nicely done with an information center, restaurant, a pretty cool kids playground and some older planes on the property. From the hill, you can overview pretty much everything, except everything behind the T1. For the T2 (+ its satellite) which is hidden by the T1, you can visit the observation deck above the T2 for free! So, why do I downrate? Well, it's okay to pay for it, also the amount is kind of okay actually. But the problem is, there is no general payment for everything. You have to pay for the hill, then, if you would like to see those older planes closely, you need to pay again. And every time you need coins (or small bills?!) - have fun paying for a handful people! Overall, if you are an airport enthusiast or have kids with you, check it out, but if you are an airplane spotter, look after those special places alongside...

Okay, das Wetter bei unserem Besuch war miserabel, das drückt vielleicht einen halben Stern auf die Bewertung.

Schöner Spielplatz mit (subjektiv) zu gefährlichem Kreisdingens. Ausgestellte Flugzeuge sind nett anzuschauen, werden aber nicht erklärt und sind nicht (mehr) betretbar.

Der Hügel kostet 1 Euro Eintritt pro Person (KEINE Kartenzahlung möglich ... wie 1992 bei Eröffnung), die Aussicht dort ist gut, die Treppen nach oben mit ihren Mini-Stufen nervig. Man hätte die Ferngläser auch kostenlos machen können. Und warum kommt niemand auf die Idee, da eine Rutsche für den Rückweg zu installieren? Dann könnte man 3 Euro Eintritt nehmen, und alle wären happy.

WCs free und okay. Parken direkt vor Ort möglich, Preise dafür zivil, Ausschilderung gut. S-Bahn-Station zu weit entfernt. Das Restaurant haben wir nicht getestet.

Der Souveniershop mit Ausstellung ist an Lieblosigkeit kaum zu übertreffen, null Sterne dafür.

Flughafen-Bustour: Um 8m vor vereinbarter Zeit beschwert sich der Tourguide, es hätten sich noch nicht alle Teilnehmer bei ihm gemeldet. Hä? Niemand sagte, man solle sich melden, und schon gar nicht vor der Zeit. Der Treffpunkt ist nur mit einem einzigen Schild kenntlich gemacht. Dann werden Namen aufgerufen, volle Namen. Sonst macht man immer so einen Datenschutz-Zirkus, hier das genaue Gegenteil.

Die Tour selbst in einem modernen und sauberen Bus hat mir gefallen, und ich hätte mir mehr Infos und mehr Zeit gewünscht. Die Kinder dagegen fanden es "nur so mittel", weil sie vieles schon begrifflich nicht verstanden haben ("Cargo", "Fracht", "VIP", "Fluggaststeig", "Terminal", "Kerosin", "Enteisung", "A380", etc.) und es oft zu schnell ging. Hier hätte ich sie mehr vorbereiten müssen und der Tourguide mehr erklären können und sollen. Warum zum Kuckuck schleicht der Bus dort, wo es nichts zu sehen gibt, dermaßen durch die Gegend?

Sicherheitskontrolle war mir klar, den Kindern wurde es aber auch nicht recht erklärt. "Torsonde" versteht kein Kind und kein Teenager.
