It's spring, and the flowers and trees around Lake Kiessee in Göttingen are blooming once more. On weekends, I jog past this location and occasionally stop at the exercise area. Der Göttinger Kiessee ist ein Baggersee und liegt am südlichen Stadtrand von Göttingen und dient heute zusammen mit seinen hübsch angelegten Uferzonen als ein beliebtes Naherholungsgebiet. Die Wasserfläche des Kiessees ist ca. 16 ha groß. Der Wasserzufluss wird aus dem Seitenkanal "Flüte" der Leine in den Kiessee als Bachlauf geleitet, damit keine beschleunigte Verlandung droht; denn der See ist nur ein bis zwei Meter tief. Der rund 2,5 Kilometer lange Uferweg lädt zu allen Jahreszeiten zu Spaziergängen ein. Es gibt einen Tretbootverleih und mehrere Bootshäuser örtlicher Wassersportvereine.
