KLICK Kindermuseum Hamburg — Attraction in Hamburg

We were interested in checking this place out since it is the only children's museum in all of Hamburg! The kids had a nice afternoon trying things out and learning. The value for money is excellent, thus the 4-star rating! 📚 While it was admittedly pretty outdated, a bit run down, and obviously low-budget, they had a lot of unique, educational, and creative exhibits and ideas I haven't seen elsewhere, all fully interactive! Everything can be touched, including things like taxidermy animals, old-fashioned cooking objects, and dentistry or optometry tools, which is pretty cool. There are also lots of games and experiments relating to the body. 💡 Recommended for families with kids around ages 3-12. There's free street parking in the area, which is nice since it's not in the downtown area. The entrance is on the back side of the street, but signs show you where to go. Cash only!! Entrance for kids and adults over age 5 is 6€ each, families for 22€. It is also totally handicap-accessible on all 3 levels. There is a café with limited hours and options, but you are also allowed to eat food and drinks you brought along there. 🤸‍♀️ This is not to be confused with an indoor playground; this is a very interactive space for kids to learn, explore, experiment, and play. I also find it's not comparable to children's museums in the US; it's the mild version of a human science, social science, and history museum. In addition to a 2-level play and exploration area for babies, there is a sensory tunnel to walk through in the dark, a craft area, a large area for all the senses and human science, a large money exhibit, a "store", a great-grandmother's house exhibit, a room with rotating exhibits (Legos on our visit), and a teepee room. 😎 Recommended for an afternoon out for something different and educational if you live in town or the area (not really a sightseeing destination and signs in...

This might have been a good place years ago but it is definitely not worth visiting now, especially if you are a tourist in Hamburg. It is far from the city center, a good 50-60 minutes on public transportation. The place feels not much cared for, with several exibits broken or well worn out. We got there at around luch time and the options for food were very limited: the on-site cafe did not have food, only a few hot drinks. Make sure you bring food for your babies/kids. All signals are in german, no translation. The same goes for the website. Overall, we had the impression this is an indoor option for local families, but definitely not to be considered as a day out option if you are visiting the city with kids. The nappy changing facilities are good. I would not recommend going there, unless you are already in the area and desperate to go...

Wir haben das Klick Kindermuseum besucht und möchten unsere Erfahrungen gerne ehrlich, aber konstruktiv teilen.

Die Idee hinter dem Museum ist wirklich großartig: Kinder dürfen hier alles anfassen, ausprobieren und nach Herzenslust spielen, was eine willkommene Abwechslung zu vielen anderen Museen darstellt. Besonders schön ist, dass die Kinder mit alten Gegenständen interagieren können – hier würde ich mir allerdings etwas mehr kindgerechte Aufklärung wünschen, um den pädagogischen Mehrwert zu erhöhen. So könnten Kinder zum Beispiel spielerisch Dinge wie Geld, Tresor und Bank kennenlernen, wenn etwas mehr Erklärung dazu vorhanden wäre. Auch mit Schreibmaschinen darf gearbeitet werden, und verschiedene Waagentypen stehen zum Vergleichen bereit. Leider fehlt jedoch überall die passende Aufklärung, die das Verständnis fördern könnte.

Leider zeigt sich in der Umsetzung, dass das Museum dringend eine Auffrischung benötigt. Viele der Einrichtungsgegenstände sind beschädigt oder wirken stark abgenutzt. Angesichts des Eintrittspreises von 24 EUR für eine Familie ist der aktuelle Zustand schon grenzwertig. Auch die Cafeteria ist recht spartanisch gestaltet, obwohl die Preise hier zumindest moderat sind. Dennoch könnte man auch hier mit kleinen Mitteln für mehr Gemütlichkeit und Auswahl sorgen.

Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist die Informationsvermittlung innerhalb der Ausstellungen. In einigen Räumen, etwa im Bereich Wahrnehmung, gibt es spannende Experimente und interessante Fragen an den Wänden – leider fehlen jedoch häufig die entsprechenden Antworten und Erklärungen. Ein paar zusätzliche Beschreibungen oder kindgerechte Erläuterungen würden das Erlebnis deutlich aufwerten.

Der Außenbereich ist von der Idee her ebenfalls super, insbesondere dass Kinder hier spielerisch Maurern und Dachdecken ausprobieren können. Aber auch hier ist leider vieles sehr beschädigt und dringend reparaturbedürftig.

Zudem liegt das Museum in einer Gegend, die durch Hochhäuser und ein sozial angespanntes Umfeld geprägt ist. Dadurch fühlte ich mich unsicher, mein Fahrrad unbeaufsichtigt draußen stehen zu lassen.

Positiv hervorheben möchte ich jedoch ausdrücklich das freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, das den Besuch trotz der genannten Mängel angenehm gemacht hat.

Fazit: Das Klick Kindermuseum verfolgt ein tolles Konzept, das Potenzial hat. In seinem derzeitigen Zustand kann ich es jedoch leider nicht uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.
